I’m Darshan, the owner of Right at Home Borehamwood & Watford and Right at Home Camden, Hampstead & Golders Green, both rated Outstanding by the CQC. It’s an achievement I’m immensely proud of and one that reflects the compassion, dedication and high standards of our teams.
I live in Bushey with my wife and our two children, who go to school locally, so being able to support people in the community where we’re raising our family means a great deal to me.
My purpose in care began long before I opened a homecare business, when my grandmother spent her final days in our family home. Watching my parents care for her with love, patience and tenderness showed me how much it matters to feel comfortable, loved and cared for at home. While my own responsibility was a small one: bringing her a warm glass of milk before bed each night, looking back I wished I could have done more, and that feeling stayed with me as I grew older and began thinking about the difference I wanted to make.
My mum was also a volunteer homecare assistant, and I often accompanied her on Saturday visits. Although I didn’t fully appreciate those afternoons as a child, they taught me lessons I still carry today: to listen, to make time for people and to recognise the person behind the support they need.
After 15 years working in finance, most recently as Finance Director at a large marketing agency, becoming a father encouraged me to think about what I wanted my work to stand for. I wanted to build something my children could be proud of, with a clear purpose: helping people live longer, better lives in their own homes and creating a place where great carers want to work.
That purpose led me to Right at Home, where I bring the discipline of my finance background to running our services alongside a deeply personal commitment to the people who rely on us. For me, trust is earned through everyday actions, from keeping promises and noticing the little things to taking time to understand what matters to someone, so families feel listened to and confident in the people caring for their loved ones.
I’m equally committed to making sure our Carers feel valued and supported, with opportunities to learn and grow, because looking after the people who deliver care is central to the service we provide.
Outside work, I enjoy tennis, skiing, football and photography, as well as cycling, with one of my proudest moments being the ride from London to Brighton, where I raised more than £2,200 for Dementia Adventure.
The memory of that warm glass of milk still reminds me why I chose this work and how much even a small act of care can mean when it is given with thought and love - a spirit I want to bring to every person and family we support.
