Regaining Confidence and Independence With Live-In Care

For Rosalind and Mike, having support at home was about much more than day to day care. Following a stay in hospital, having the right support around them meant they could continue enjoying places and activities that were important to them. 

Live-in care provided Rosalind with personalised support in the comfort of her own home, while also giving her the confidence to get out and about again. With her Live-in Carer, Lucia, there to provide reassurance and practical support, days out could continue to be apart of everyday life. 

One of those special outings was a visit to RHS Wisley Garden. Rather than feeling that life had to become more limited after hospital, Rosalind was able to enjoy a place she loved, with the support she needed alongside her. 

Person-centred care is about understanding what matters to each individual and finding ways to support them to continue doing those things - for Rosalind, this meant having the confidence to enjoy time outside their home as well as receiving support with her care needs.

After hospital, getting back into familiar routines can take time; even when someone is physically able to do something, they may feel less confident about going out independently. Having Lucia alongside Rosalind meant she had someone there to provide reassurance when needed, helping her feel more comfortable getting out and enjoying her day.

For Mike, having this additional support also meant greater peace of mind. Knowing his wife has someone with her meant he could feel reassurance, while they could both continue to enjoy experience together. Their visit to RHS Wisley Garden was a reminder that Live-in care does not have to mean staying at home.
