Right at Home Camberley & Woking has officially opened the doors to its new home, marking an exciting new chapter for the award-winning home care provider. The move to Quatro House in Frimley comes as part of the company’s continued growth and success in providing high-quality, person-centred care to people in their own homes.
The new office was officially opened by Councillor Cliff Betton, the Deputy Mayor of Surrey Heath who spoke about the importance of supporting those with dementia to remain at home for as long as possible. Speaking from personal experience, Councillor Betton shared observations about the care of his own family members who had lived with dementia and how each was affected in very different ways.
He said: “In my lifetime we have discovered the structure of DNA, identified a number of diseases that are inherited, learned how to manipulate DNA and remove the particular genes that cause some inherited diseases. It is not yet universal, but medical advances are occurring at an increasing rate. Dementia is a dreadful condition that impacts everyone in this room, and probably most families have relatives with or who had dementia. My own grandmother, my wife’s father, both lived into their 90s but had dementia for over five years. It is a cruel way to end a life. The person is gone while the body goes on inhabited by a stranger.”
Speaking to the Right at Home team, Councillor Betton added: “I hope that in the lifetime of my children or perhaps my grandchildren, organisations such as yours and care homes will no longer be necessary. But, until that happens, we must thank you for all that you do on behalf of those who can maintain a home life with the appropriate support before a care home and all the trauma associated with that is necessary. All of us I am sure, wish those working on eliminating dementia every success, but there is still a long way to go.”
In response, Alastair Shanks Managing Director of Right at Home Camberley & Woking, said: “On behalf of the Right at Home team, I would like to thank the Deputy Mayor for his deeply personal and insightful speech.
“We’re absolutely delighted to officially open our new office. This move reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding our services and supporting even more people across Camberley, Woking and the surrounding areas.”
The opening was attended by members of the Right at Home team, including carers, staff, and the newly appointed Deputy Care Manager, Keleigh, who joined in the celebrations.
