Bringing the Community Together for Dementia Adventure
Right at Home Camberley & Woking recently hosted its Big Green Picnic at Wessex Lodge Retirement Home in Bagshot, bringing together members of the local community for an afternoon of fun, fundraising, and raising awareness for Dementia Adventure.
As our chosen charity partner for the second consecutive year, Dementia Adventure holds a special place within our organisation. Their mission to help people living with dementia create lasting memories through outdoor experiences, day trips, and holidays closely aligns with our own specialist dementia support services. With glorious sunshine overhead and over 40 attendees joining us, including residents of Wessex Lodge, the event was a fantastic celebration of community spirit and a wonderful opportunity to support an incredible cause.
A key contributor to the day's fundraising success was the raffle, which proved hugely popular among attendees. With a fantastic selection of prizes on offer, there was great excitement as winners were announced and collected their rewards.
An Afternoon Filled with Food, Fun and Fundraising
Guests enjoyed a delicious picnic spread featuring an abundance of homemade cakes, quiches, sandwiches and sweet treats, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy. Adding to the atmosphere was a live singer who kept guests entertained throughout the afternoon, while traditional sports day games encouraged plenty of laughter and friendly competition.
As the picnic took place on Ladies Day at Royal Ascot, attendees were invited to embrace the occasion with a special dress code. Many guests arrived dressed in their finest outfits and hats, adding a touch of elegance and colour to the celebrations.
The event was made possible through the hard work and dedication of the Right at Home Camberley & Woking team. Care Manager Tiffany and Community Relations Executive Jenny led the organisation of the day, supported by Finance and Enquiries Executive Kirsten, who helped with decorations, and Digital Marketing Executive Ella. Their combined efforts helped create a welcoming and memorable event for everyone involved.
“It was fantastic to see so many people attend the Big Green Picnic. It took weeks of planning, but it was so worth it to see so many smiles on the day. A huge thank you to Wessex Lodge once again for hosting our event - we couldn't have done it without you."
– Tiffany Poole | Care Manager, Right at Home Camberley & Woking
The Big Green Picnic was a wonderful example of what can be achieved when a community comes together for a shared purpose. From the delicious food and entertainment to the fundraising and awareness raised for Dementia Adventure, the day was filled with positivity and connection. At Right at Home Camberley & Woking, we strive to make a difference every day, and this event was a perfect reflection of that commitment. We would like to thank everyone who attended, supported and helped make the day such a memorable success.
