Moments of Connection: Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week
Finding Balance and Joy: Reflecting on Mental Health Within Our Care Family
Published: 22/05/2026
Mental health is the foundation of everything we do. This week, we joined the national conversation for Mental Health Awareness Week, focusing on the theme of "Movement."
At Right at Home, we believe that well-being isn't just a clinical goal; it’s about the small, daily actions that help us feel connected, supported, and heard. Here is how our wonderful community of Clients, carers, and office team got involved.
Finding Joy in Motion: The ‘Move in 15’ Challenge
This year’s theme highlighted how physical movement can boost our mental clarity and mood. We challenged our clients, carers, and families to commit to just 15 minutes of movement every day (link). The results were truly heartening. We’ve seen everything from gentle walks in the garden to stretching exercises at home. A special shout-out goes to our "Master Motivator" among the care team, whose constant encouragement helped several of our clients achieve their 15-minute goals and earn their well-deserved certificates!
A Sea of Green for Awareness
On 14th May, our entire community turned a vibrant shade of green! From our office team to our carers out in the field and even our Clients at home, "Wear it Green" day was a visual reminder that no one has to face mental health challenges alone. Seeing those bright smiles and green outfits across Central Wiltshire was a wonderful way to spark conversations and show our solidarity.
Time to Talk: The Carer Wellbeing Kit
We know that our carers give so much of themselves to others every day. To say thank you and to encourage some well-earned self-care, we prepared Wellbeing Kits in our office.
We invited our team to pop in, grab a kit, and most importantly, take a moment to have a chat and relax. Creating a safe space to decompress and share a cup of tea is one of the simplest yet most effective ways we can support one another’s mental health.
Finding Your ‘One Thing’
Mental health is deeply personal, which is why we encouraged everyone to "find your one thing." This involved choosing one positive action, whether it’s reading a book, gardening, or listening to music, that helps boost your mood.
Our team’s chat groups have been buzzing with carers sharing their "one thing" and offering thoughts of support. This peer-to-peer connection is the heartbeat of our team, proving that a small positive action can have a huge ripple effect.
Caring with Confidence: Supporting Conversations Around Grief
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we were also proud to host our Caring with Confidence workshop, delivered by Meg from FW Jones & Son Funeral Directors.
The session created a safe and supportive environment for our team to openly discuss grief, loss, cumulative grief, burnout, and emotional wellbeing within care. It also encouraged meaningful conversations around psychological safety and the importance of supporting one another through difficult experiences.
The workshop gave our carers and office team valuable time to reflect, learn, and share experiences together. We are incredibly grateful to Meg for guiding such an important and compassionate session.
The workshop has also inspired us to explore additional ways we can continue supporting our carers, including creating meaningful spaces for reflection and remembrance within our office.
Looking Ahead
Mental Health Awareness Week may have come to an end, but our commitment to wellbeing continues every day. Whether through movement, conversations, training, or simply checking in with one another, we remain dedicated to creating a supportive and compassionate environment for our clients and our team.
Thank you to everyone who participated, shared a story, joined an activity, or wore green this week. Together, we are building a more connected and mindful community.
