Stay Active in 2026: Monthly Exercise Challenges for Clients and Carers
Promoting Health, Mobility, and Wellbeing One Month at a Time
Published: 02/01/2026
After the success of our 2025 Exercise Challenge, we’re excited to continue in 2026 with a new series of monthly exercise challenges designed to support our clients and carers. Each month, we’ll introduce a simple, safe, and enjoyable exercise routine that encourages gentle movement, improves flexibility, and boosts overall wellbeing.
Why Monthly Exercise Challenges?
Our 2026 Exercise Challenges are created with the aim to:
- Promote physical health and mobility
- Encourage mental wellbeing and relaxation
- Build body awareness and confidence in safe movement
- Support carers and clients in maintaining an active lifestyle
By focusing on one specific area each month, participants can gradually improve their strength, flexibility, and comfort in everyday movements.
January Challenge: Gentle Waist Movement
To kick off the year, our January challenge focuses on gentle waist movement. This exercise is designed to ease stiffness in the waist and lower back, making everyday actions such as turning and reaching easier. It also promotes relaxation, body awareness, and safe, regular movement.
How to do it:
- Sit upright in a chair with feet flat on the floor
- Place hands on your waist or behind your head
- Slowly turn your upper body to one side and hold for 1-2 seconds
- Return to centre and repeat on the other side
- Complete 5 gentle twists in total
Important: Move slowly, stay within your comfort level, and stop immediately if you feel pain, dizziness, or discomfort.
We’re looking forward to sharing a new challenge every month in 2026 to help our clients and carers stay active, healthy, and engaged. Stay tuned for February’s challenge!
