At Right at Home Chippenham, we believe that small steps lead to big wins. Every month, we set a simple yet effective exercise challenge to keep our clients moving, motivated, and feeling their best.

 

August Challenge Recap: Seated Leg Raises – You Smashed It!

Last month, our amazing clients rose to the challenge with Seated Leg Raises – and absolutely nailed it! This exercise may look simple, but it packs a big punch when it comes to improving leg strength, mobility, and circulation. By doing 10–15 leg raises, 2–3 times a day, clients worked on reducing stiffness and making standing and walking easier.

 

The results were fantastic! We’ve seen improved confidence, better mobility, and lots of smiles along the way. A huge thank you to our incredible Care Assistants who encouraged, supported, and cheered clients on every step of the way. Your motivation truly makes all the difference!

 

This Month’s Focus: Hand & Grip Strengthening

Now it’s time for a new challenge! For September, we’re turning our attention to hand and grip strength – an important part of maintaining independence in daily life. Stronger hands and forearms make everyday tasks easier, from opening jars and holding cups to carrying shopping bags or using walking aids safely.

 

Your September Goal:

✔ Do hand and grip exercises 2–3 times a day

✔ Aim for 10–15 repetitions each time

 

Why It Matters:

Keeping hands strong not only supports daily activities but also helps prevent weakness and improves overall coordination and control.

 

Try This Simple Exercise:

Grab a stress ball (or a rolled-up towel). Squeeze firmly for 5 seconds, then release. Repeat this 10 times. It’s quick, easy, and very effective!

 

If the weather is still kind, why not pair your exercises with some fresh air? A little sunshine and movement can lift your mood, boost energy, and make the challenge even more enjoyable.
