We welcome new Franchisees to our RightStart programme

Supporting four new franchise owners through training and start-up

Published: 22/11/2021

We are delighted to have passed the landmark of opening 70 franchise territories in 2021.

Former housing lawyer Anne Downey is the latest franchise owner to join the network, and it was a pleasure to have her and husband David spend two weeks up at our National Office in October, to complete the Franchisee Initial Training programme.

David, an accountant, took some time off work to accompany Anne through the training, so that he can offer out-of-hours support as she gets her new business off the ground.

Anne purchased a home territory area covering north Nottingham, where she has the benefit of working alongside established East Midlands offices including the Outstanding rated Nottingham South.

She said: “I decided very soon after the Discovery Day that Right at Home was absolutely the right franchise for me. However, the thought of actually starting a new business was still a nerve-wracking and slightly daunting prospect.

“Having now undertaken the Right at Home training, which was pitched perfectly and brilliantly delivered, I now feel confident and excited to proceed knowing I have the Right at Home team behind me.”

Anne is now following our RightStart programme; working with our recruitment co-ordinator to hire a manager to oversee the operational care delivery in her business and finalising the lease on her new office, as she prepares to apply for CQC registration.

Also in the RightStart programme are three franchisees who have been waiting very patiently since 2020 to start their new venture!

The pandemic posed additional challenges for anyone wanting to launch a new business, so we gave new franchise owners the option of remaining in employment until Spring this year, when the worst impact of the lockdowns had passed.

We’re delighted that Jagdeep Ahluwalia, Darshan Vora and Mahi Shettiar are now in full start-up mode and about to hit the ground running, as they open Right at Home offices in Bedford, Hampstead & Golders Green, and Hillingdon respectively.

Jagdeep said: “It’s been a long wait certainly, but I was lucky that I had the option to stay in my job until we reached a point that we could get out to market the business in the local community.

“I had many open conversations with Right at Home about my preferred timing; we kept in regular contact and although we put a pause on opening, there were lots of engagement opportunities and we very much felt part of the network from the point of signing.

“Looking at the positives, it’s meant we we’ve been able to get a really good understanding of the business, just from watching, listening and talking to other owners. But after all this time, it’s great to now be in the office, with my manager; we can’t wait to get CQC registered and start trading!”

Right at Home schedules its initial training programme quarterly to allow maximum flexibility to new owners start-up schedules. It fits into our tailored RightStart support programme, which guides franchisees through the start-up process and their first year of trading.

Designed to minimise avoidable expenses and delays - and thereby help owners get to breakeven point as quickly as possible - this programme is delivered by a team who specialise in offering hand-holding support, until such point as owners feel confident driving business development and managing compliance in their business.
