September Newsletter: Celebrating Care, Community and Connection

Catching up on some of our latest news, events and team highlights

Supporting Older People to Stay Safe at Home

With Falls Prevention Week taking place from 21–25 September, we’re highlighting the importance of helping older people stay safe, confident and independent at home.

Our latest newsletter includes simple, practical tips to help reduce the risk of falls, from staying active and keeping walkways clear to ensuring homes are well lit and considering suitable equipment where needed.

Regular care visits can also provide reassurance for Clients and their families, while helping to identify potential hazards and provide practical support.

Listening to Our Clients

We’re always grateful when Clients and their families take the time to share their experiences of our homecare services.

This month, we’re sharing some lovely feedback about our Care Assistants, highlighting the kindness, companionship and personal connection that are such an important part of the support we provide.

For us, great care is about more than completing tasks. It’s about building trusted relationships and helping people feel valued, supported and comfortable in their own homes.

Keeping Active with Our Monthly Exercise Challenge

Our September Exercise Challenge focuses on hand and grip strength.

Simple exercises, such as squeezing a stress ball or rolled towel, can help support strength and confidence with everyday activities such as holding objects, opening jars and completing other daily tasks.

Small movements can make a big difference when it comes to maintaining independence.

Caroline Takes on a Firewalk for Dementia Adventure

One of this month’s biggest challenges comes from our Operations Manager, Caroline Evans, who is stepping outside her comfort zone to take part in a Firewalk in support of Dementia Adventure.

Caroline will be walking barefoot across burning-hot coals to raise funds for this wonderful charity, which helps people living with dementia and their families enjoy new experiences, make memories and stay connected.

We’re incredibly proud of Caroline for taking on this brave challenge. Every donation, no matter how small, will help support Dementia Adventure and the important work they do.

Connecting with Our Local Community

We were also delighted to take part in Summer at Base, hosted by Wiltshire + Bath Air Ambulance.

It was a wonderful opportunity to meet local people, talk about homecare and careers in care, and enjoy an afternoon of family fun. Our training dummy, Gerry, even became one of the stars of the event!

We were also pleased to support Wiltshire Air Ambulance through donations on the day.

Celebrating Our Team

This month, we’re celebrating Gail’s six-year anniversary with Right at Home. Gail has been part of our journey from the very beginning, bringing kindness, warmth and genuine care to Clients and colleagues.

We’re also delighted to welcome Louise, our new Office Administrator, along with the latest additions to our Care Team. We’re excited to see them develop their skills and become part of our growing Right at Home family.
