Hi, I’m Jemma, and I’ve been working as a Care Assistant with Right at Home Cheshire East since June 2024. While I may be relatively new to the team, I’ve already grown so much in my role, and I absolutely love it. Every day brings something different, and I feel lucky to be part of such a caring, welcoming community.

One of the things I enjoy most about my job is the people. I’ve met so many lovely clients with fascinating stories to tell, and no two visits have ever been the same. Whether it’s helping someone with their morning routine, preparing meals, or just sitting down for a chat over a cuppa, I get to form real, meaningful connections. It’s a privilege to be trusted in someone’s home, and I always aim to bring positivity and kindness to every visit.

Another highlight of my role is working with our friendly team of caregivers. There’s such a strong sense of support and camaraderie at Right at Home. Even when days are busy, there’s always someone to lend a hand or offer advice. That teamwork makes a real difference and helps us deliver the consistent, quality care that Right at Home is known for.

I’m based in Stockport, so being part of a local home care provider means a lot to me. We’re supporting people in our own neighbourhoods, giving them the help they need to stay comfortable, independent, and safe in their own homes. Whether we’re offering companionship, help around the house, or personal care, it’s all about improving someone’s day in small, but meaningful ways.

When I’m not working, I love to unwind with a good walk; it’s my favourite way to clear my head and get some fresh air. I also enjoy cooking and baking, especially when I’ve got time to try out new recipes or share treats with family and friends. You’ll often find me experimenting in the kitchen, from comforting casseroles to sweet bakes fresh from the oven.

If I were ever stranded on a desert island (not that I plan on it anytime soon!), I’d be taking a boat, because I like to be prepared and, let’s be honest, I’d probably miss talking to people far too much to stay marooned for long!

Being part of Right at Home has helped me grow in confidence, and it’s shown me just how powerful kindness and conversation can be. I may not have a formal specialist skill, but I believe listening, being present, and offering genuine companionship are some of the most valuable things we can give. I'm excited to keep learning, keep connecting, and continue making a difference, one Client at a time.
