Betty's Story

Betty always told her children that she hoped never to end up in a residential care home or living with them, but wanted to maintain her own independence.

Sam's Story

Sam has Asperger Syndrome and lives in his own flat. His parents knew he needed some supervision and assistance with living on his own and wanted to encourage his independence with support from a CareGiver of a similar age.

Bob's Story

The many years Bob spent as a soldier and active construction worker were beginning to take a physical toll. At first, he simply had trouble standing up from his chair without a helping hand, but he soon needed more help.

My aunt was supported and cared for by a team of Right at Home staff from December 2018 to March 2019. During this time, her mental health needs increased considerably. She was always treated with respect and dignity. All staff very quickly became familiar with her life story and ensured meaningful 'in the moment' rapport and appropriate, 'professional friendship.'

Practical support was excellent and ever flexible both in the timing and number of daily visits needed, and the range of tasks. As well as companionship, care and meals the team provided cleaning, shopping, collection of prescriptions, care of her pet, packing an overnight bag - searching for her glasses - the list goes on!

Both formal and informal communication between the manager and ourselves was excellent allowing for honest and realistic assessment of her changing needs and adjustments to her care requirements. I highly recommend this lovely team, and wish to thank them unreservedly for their support.

Right at Home have been professional from the start. My mother, aged 94, has dementia and is not always cooperative. She is also quite heavy. The carers are friendly, kind and patient and do their best to make my mother comfortable.

She loves them and they keep her very happy in her bed-ridden condition - no bed sores and she is always clean and comfortable when they are finished. They quickly pick up any infections mother has and organise Dr visits and answer any queries promptly. We are grateful to the carers and would be very happy to recommend Right at Home to others.

From the initial assessment through to the daily care my mother receives, we have been very impressed with the service provided and the smooth running of the administration.

The team were able to accommodate her needs at very short notice. All the carers are punctual and efficient but also extremely caring and happy to sit and have a chat with mum, understanding her emotional, as well as physical needs.
