Jenny Sherratt – Care Assistant

She / Her

Hi, I’m Jenny, and I’m one of the newest members of the Care Team here at Right at Home Cheshire East. I joined in March 2025, and even though I’ve only been in the role for a few months, it’s already been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

I’ve always considered myself a reliable person, someone people can count on, and that’s something I bring into every Client visit. Whether I’m helping with daily routines, supporting someone on an outing, or just being a friendly face to chat to, I take pride in showing up and making someone’s day just that little bit easier.

What I love most about being a Care Assistant is the variety and the people. I get to meet so many individuals from all walks of life, and I’m constantly reminded how powerful human connection can be. It’s such a privilege to be welcomed into someone’s home, to earn their trust, and to support them in living life on their terms. Those moments of genuine connection, whether it’s a shared laugh, a story told over a cup of tea, or just knowing someone feels less alone, are what make this job so special.

Although I’m based in Manchester, I spend a lot of my working day out and about in the Cheshire East area, supporting our Clients in places like Stockport, Wilmslow, and Poynton. Providing consistent, person-centred home care means a lot to me; it’s about respecting people’s independence while offering a steady hand and a warm heart.

Outside of work, I’m all about keeping active and enjoying the outdoors. I love running and hiking; it helps me clear my head and gives me a sense of achievement. Whether I’m exploring local trails or powering through a city run, I always feel recharged afterwards. I also really value time with friends, whether we’re out for a bite to eat or just catching up over a brew, it’s those small moments that matter.

And if I were ever stranded on a desert island? I’d be taking crisps. No question. I’d probably miss a lot of things, but I know I couldn’t survive long without a salty snack or two!

Though I’m still new to the care sector, I’m learning every day, and I’m so proud to be part of a team that genuinely cares. The support and training I’ve received from Right at Home have been amazing, and I already feel like I’ve found my place. For me, making a difference, no matter how small, is what it’s all about.
