Understanding Our Franchise Approval Process
Becoming a Right at Home franchise owner is a significant commercial commitment. It demands financial investment, disciplined leadership and long-term focus.
Our responsibility is to protect the integrity of the brand and the strength of our network and uphold the principles of ethical franchising. For that reason, we operate a structured and exacting recruitment process, purposefully designed to give successful candidates confidence in their ability to succeed.
From initial enquiry to signing a franchise agreement, we will guide you through a process of research, qualification, due diligence, business modelling and franchisor approval, to ensure your motivations, skillsets and values reflect strong potential to succeed.
Mutual Evaluation
The long-term strength of Right at Home is determined by the calibre of its franchise owners.
We conduct a disciplined two-way assessment. We look for individuals who can operate within a proven framework, while leading with confidence and accountability.
Equally, you must be confident that our governance, support infrastructure and expectations align with your long-term ambitions. We evaluate leadership capability, resilience, commercial awareness and alignment with our standards and values.
Our process is deliberate and measured. It protects both parties and preserves the quality of the network.
Stage 1:
Initial Enquiry and Introductory Discussion
Your journey begins with confidential discussions with our Franchise Recruitment Team.
We will explore the background to your enquiry, your professional experience, motivation for ownership and financial position. We will outline the realities of operating within a regulated environment and explain how the Right at Home model functions in practice.
If there is mutual alignment, you will receive a clear explanation of the next stages and an invitation to meet in person at our National Office.
Stage 2:
Discovery Session at National Office
Attendance at a Discovery Session forms a key part of the evaluation process. held at our National Office near Liverpool.
These focused, small-group meetings are hosted by members of the senior leadership team, including our founder and chairman, Ken Deary, CEO Lucy Campbell and Associate Director of Network Development, Kate Dilworth.
You will receive detailed insight into our franchise model, our positioning within the UK homecare sector and the standards upheld across the network. We will discuss financing considerations, the potential returns on your investment and the structured support available throughout the franchise lifecycle.
Discovery Sessions are deliberately limited in size to allow meaningful conversation from which both parties can start to get to know one another.
Stage 3:
Interview and Assessment
The type of support we provide grows with you as your business scales. Throughout each stage of the franchise lifecycle, our focus remains firmly on helping you grow, innovate and maintain a reputation as the care provider and employer of choice in your territory area.
Right at Home has won widespread industry acclaim for the quality and commitment of its Franchise Support, and we’re very proud to hold an industry-leading record of 11 years’ of Five Star Franchisee Satisfaction ratings in national independent franchising surveys.
Stage 4:
Due Diligence and Validation
At this stage, it’s important for you to satisfy yourself that the business opportunity is viable and that you have faith in your ability to replicate the proven model in your chosen territory area.
You will review the operational structure, territory potential and demographic demand. We will share conservative financial projections and explain the assumptions that underpin them. You will gain a clear understanding of regulatory responsibilities and the operational discipline required to maintain high standards.
Independent legal and financial advice is strongly encouraged throughout this phase. This is a considered investment and should be approached with appropriate scrutiny.
Conversations with existing franchisees will help bring the realities of running the business to light as you start to model out your business plan, with ongoing advice and guidance from our senior leadership team.
Stage 5:
Final Qualification and Franchise Approval
Before any agreement is signed, your comprehensive due diligence must be evidenced.
In the final in-person meeting of this process, each of our Franchise Owners returns to Right at Home National Office to present their research and understanding of key operational responsibilities.
Franchise approval is granted only when both parties are fully satisfied that the opportunity is commercially sound and strategically appropriate.
Our evaluation process underlines the principle that we do not sell franchises. We carefully select franchise partners whose capability, values and ambition align with our standards. In addition, for many franchise owners, the opportunity is not solely financial. It is the chance to build a legacy — a trusted local care provider that outlasts them and continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Clients and families for years to come.
Stage 6:
RightStart and Pre-Launch Preparation
Following approval, you can immediately begin our comprehensive RightStart induction programme.
This delivers intensive and structured support across all aspects of your start-up preparation, launch and early years trading. You will receive training across operations, compliance, recruitment strategy, marketing foundations, business development and financial management. We will support you in securing finance, finding suitable office premises and preparing for regulatory registration.
Our in-house team will also oversee the process of finding and recruiting a suitably experienced Registered Care Manager — often saving you thousands in recruitment agency fees.
While you will not launch until you are fully prepared, we will prime you to hit the ground running and offer strategies to kickstart building your brand and new professional networks, from the point you commit to starting the business.
Thorough preparation at this stage underpins long-term performance.
