Supporting You Through a Regulated Sector
Homecare is a highly regulated sector because the stakes are high. Families are trusting providers with the wellbeing, dignity and safety of the people they love most.
For many franchise owners, particularly those joining the sector for the first time, that responsibility can initially feel daunting. At Right at Home, our role is to help turn that uncertainty into confidence through structured guidance, experienced support and proven operational systems.
Our National Office Quality & Compliance Team works alongside franchise owners and Registered Managers to help them build safe, well-led and high-performing care businesses from the very beginning.
Lynette Walker | Associate Director – Systems, Innovation and Quality Assurance"“Families are trusting providers with the wellbeing and safety of the people they love most. Our role is to help franchise owners build services that deserve that trust. We don’t just focus on minimum standards. We work alongside franchise owners to help them continually improve, strengthen quality and strive for Outstanding.”"
Dedicated Support From Experienced Specialists
Every franchise owner is supported by a dedicated Quality & Compliance Manager who acts as a consistent point of contact throughout their journey.
Our team has extensive experience across health and social care, with deep knowledge of the standards set by each of the UK regulators: the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England, Care Inspectorate Wales, the Scottish Care Inspectorate and the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) in Northern Ireland.
The objective is to equip franchise owners with the tools, guidance, and support needed to uphold strong governance, maintain high standards, and deliver safe, high-quality care in every situation. This creates services that families can genuinely rely on, giving people confidence that their loved ones are safe and cared for by a trusted team within their local community.
Support includes:
- Guidance through the registration process
- Regulatory and operational training
- Policies, procedures and governance frameworks
- Support recruiting Registered Managers
- Preparation for Fit Person Interviews
- Ongoing operational visits and audits
- Inspection preparation and action planning
- Coaching around leadership and best practice
As part of the onboarding journey, new franchise owners complete structured training focused on regulatory frameworks, operational responsibilities and the standards expected across the network.
Building Towards Outstanding
Our Quality & Compliance Team does not only focus on immediate risks or minimum standards. We help franchise owners build towards long-term operational excellence.
Each office receives regular support visits, alongside annual audits aligned to their regulator’s inspection framework. These reviews create clear service improvement plans focused on three areas:
- Immediate operational priorities
- Consistent best practice
- Longer-term progression towards Outstanding or equivalent ratings
This approach helps franchise owners move beyond simply maintaining compliance. It encourages continuous improvement and supports the development of strong local reputations over time.
Mark Beeby | Managing Director, Right at Home South Trafford""As a franchisee of Right at Home, I am extremely grateful for the ongoing support provided by our franchisor. We have recently been inspected by the CQC and awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating — an achievement that would not have been possible without the regular audits, guidance, and expert support from our compliance support officer at our National Office.""
A High-Performing Network
Right at Home has built a strong reputation for quality across the UK.
Currently, 33% of inspected offices in England are rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, significantly above the national average. Across the wider network, 98% of offices hold a Good rating or equivalent.
In Wales, 50% of offices are rated Excellent across the board, while our Scotland office achieved scores of five out of six across all areas during its first inspection.
Our Quality & Compliance Team plays an active role in helping offices prepare for inspections, supporting franchise owners and Registered Managers before, during and after the process.
For newer operators, that support can be invaluable. From preparation sessions and mock inspections through to guidance on draft reports and improvement planning, franchise owners are supported throughout the entire inspection journey.
Built Around Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
One of the strengths of the Right at Home network is the close collaboration between National Office and local franchise owners.
Support is not delivered through generic templates or distant oversight. Our teams work closely with offices to understand challenges, improve processes and share operational best practice across the network.
That collaborative culture helps franchise owners feel supported while also creating consistency in the standards Clients and families experience across Right at Home offices nationwide.
Ultimately, quality and compliance are not separate from business success. They are fundamental to building a trusted, sustainable care business that makes a meaningful difference within the local community.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does compliance support differ between a franchise and starting independently?
One of the biggest differences between joining a franchise network and starting independently is the level of operational and compliance support available from day one.
With an independent care business, you are responsible for building policies, procedures, audit frameworks, training systems and operational processes yourself. You must interpret complex regulatory requirements independently and ensure your business remains compliant as standards evolve.
Within a franchise model such as Right at Home, many of these foundations are already established and continuously maintained.
Franchise owners benefit from structured operational frameworks, established policies and procedures, quality assurance systems, ongoing training resources and support from experienced compliance professionals. Rather than building everything from scratch, you enter a model shaped by years of operational experience within the homecare sector.
That support comes with franchise fees and the responsibility to operate within agreed brand and operational standards. In return, many franchise owners value the reassurance, guidance and shared expertise that comes with operating as part of an established network.
Ultimately, the right route depends on the type of business owner you want to be. Some people value complete operational independence. Others prefer the structure, support and reduced uncertainty that franchising can provide within a regulated sector like homecare.
Do I need previous care sector experience to run a Right at Home franchise?
No. Many of our franchise owners come from professional backgrounds outside health and social care.
What matters most is your ability to lead people, build relationships and operate a business responsibly within a regulated sector. Our National Office teams provide structured training, operational guidance and ongoing support to help you understand the regulatory and compliance responsibilities involved in running a homecare business.
How does Right at Home support me with CQC registration?
Our Quality & Compliance Team supports franchise owners and Registered Managers throughout the registration process with the Care Quality Commission or the relevant regulator within your nation.
This includes guidance around operational setup, policies and procedures, Fit Person Interview preparation and understanding regulatory expectations before your service launches.
Will I have ongoing quality and compliance support after opening?
Yes. Support continues throughout your time within the network.
Each franchise owner has access to a dedicated Quality & Compliance Manager who provides ongoing guidance, operational visits, audits and support around inspections, governance and service improvement.
How often are offices audited or reviewed?
All offices receive regular support visits from the Quality & Compliance Team. In addition, full annual audits are carried out against the relevant regulatory framework.
These reviews help identify strengths, support continuous improvement and create clear action plans where needed.
What happens if my office is inspected?
Our Quality & Compliance Team supports franchise owners and Registered Managers before, during and after inspections.
This includes inspection preparation, mock inspections, operational guidance, emotional support during the inspection process and assistance responding to draft reports or action points where required.
How does Right at Home help franchise owners strive for Outstanding ratings?
Our approach focuses not only on maintaining compliance, but also on supporting long-term operational excellence.
Service improvement plans are designed around best practice, leadership development and quality enhancement, helping franchise owners continually strengthen their service over time.
Currently, 33% of inspected offices in England are rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
How does Right at Home maintain consistency across the network?
