Right at Home Isle of Wight Finalists at BFA Franchise Awards
Published: 29/10/2025
We are incredibly proud to be supporting husband and wife Franchisee team Vicky & Paul Butler in the upcoming BFA HSBC Franchise Awards.
A highlight of the franchising calendar, these prestigious awards recognise remarkable achievements across franchising – and this couple, owners of Right at Home Isle of Wight, are finalists in the Community Impact award category just four years into their business journey.
For Vicky and Paul, life-changing personal experiences inspired them to make a profound career change, and kickstarted a mission to make a difference in their community. Formerly working for a car manufacturer on the Isle of Wight — Vicky as a Finance Director and chartered accountant, and Paul as an Operations Planner and former soldier — the couple faced a deeply challenging moment when Paul’s father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Navigating care for him revealed a fragmented system and left a lasting impact on them both.
Determined to turn their heart-breaking experience into positive change, Vicky and Paul launched their Right at Home franchise in 2021, channelling their personal journey into a thriving homecare business that prioritises quality care and community support. Just four years later, their franchise has achieved multiple awards, an Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) — an accolade earned by only 3% of providers nationally — and annualised revenue exceeding £1 million.
A Hub for Community Support
Central to their approach is the belief that looking after staff ensures the best care for their Clients. This philosophy is evident in their pioneering initiatives, including the Independent Living Show, which brings together more than 40 local services to share advice and resources, helping older adults live independently and safely. Supported by Age UK and praised by the Isle of Wight’s High Sheriff, the show attracted hundreds of attendees, offering workshops, live music, and interactive sessions.
Their Afternoon Tea Club provides a safe, welcoming space for people living with dementia and their families. Activities range from animal therapy to talent competitions, with creative workshops, ghost storytelling, and historical exploration forming part of the summer programme. Members consistently praise the club for fostering connection, joy, and companionship.
Vicky and Paul also host a Community Christmas Dinner, offering companionship, food, gifts and entertainment on Christmas Day to those who would otherwise spend the holiday alone. The event was attended by more than xx people, and with local businesses and volunteers keen to continue supporting it, Vicky and Paul have committed to making it an annual tradition.
A letter from the grandson of a lady who joined them said afterwards: “Your organization literally made her Christmas—she couldn’t stop talking about how special it was. Since my family and I live in another country, we are truly grateful for the care and dedication you put into making this event so memorable.”
Making a Difference Every Day
Vicky and Paul focus on building a motivated team, developing meaningful relationships with clients, and ensuring the right people deliver exceptional care. Their work demonstrates how a franchise can empower individuals to create positive change, not just for their Clients, but across the wider community. For the Butlers, the satisfaction comes from helping people every single day — a sense of purpose and fulfilment far beyond what their previous careers offered.
The couple’s fantastic contribution to their local community will be recognised at the 36th annual BFA HSBC UK British Franchise Awards, at an evening of celebration at the Telford International Centre, following the BFA’s annual conference.
Gillian Morris, UK Head of Franchise at HSBC UK said: “My warmest congratulations to all the finalists in this year’s British Franchise Awards. It’s certainly not an easy task, but shortlisting the entries and choosing the finalists is one of the highlights of my year. As ever, there are some brilliant businesses amongst this year’s entrants. They really do represent the best of British franchising, and I look forward to seeing them all at the awards ceremony.”
Chief Executive Officer of the BFA Pip Wilkins said: “A huge congratulations to all our finalists this year. As ever, the entries were very strong, and we commend each and every one of them for going the extra mile over the past 12 months.”
