Welcome to My World: The Life of a Registered Manager

Published: 02/02/2025

Hi, I’m Billie, a CQC-registered manager for Right at Home Grantham. We’re a quality homecare provider in Grantham, Newark, Melton, Oakham, and the rural surrounding areas. Our mission is to make a difference every day, and I hope that by sharing this blog and giving you an insight into my world, I can help make that difference in a new way.

The role of a Registered Manager is rewarding, challenging, and, at times, very chaotic. But I wouldn’t have it any other way! As someone who oversees the care of vulnerable Clients in their homes, I juggle everything from staff management and compliance to providing emotional support for families. This role keeps me on my toes and is one that I’m incredibly passionate about.

I decided to start this blog for a few reasons. Firstly, I want to tell the world what it really means to be a Registered Manager – especially one for a quality homecare provider who has a passion for making a difference. It’s a role that often goes unnoticed yet it’s central to the smooth running of any care service. Secondly, I want to connect with others, whether you’re a fellow health and social care professional, a family member exploring care options, or simply someone curious about the industry itself. And finally, I hope to provide a glimpse into the challenges and highlights of working in the ever-evolving health and social care sector.

Over the weeks ahead, I’ll share stories from the frontlines, insights into the complexities of managing a homecare company, and reflections on what makes my line of work so special. I’ll also discuss some of the challenges we face as a sector, from recruitment and retention to navigating the ever-changing regulations we’re bound by.

This blog is for anyone who cares about people and wants to better understand the work that goes into providing high-quality care at home. Whether you’re here to learn, share your own experiences, or simply find a sense of community, I’m glad you’re here.

Thanks for joining me on this new and exciting journey – see you next week!
