Charity Christmas Tree Collection

In Partnership with The Hospice of St Francis

Published: 21/01/2026

Community spirit shone bright this January as Right at Home Hemel Hempstead proudly joined forces with The Hospice of St Francis for their much‑anticipated Annual Christmas Tree Collection Event.

This local tradition, powered by volunteers, businesses, and supporters across the region, saw one of its most successful years yet - with our Managing Director Hesam and Care Coordinator Dan stepping in to lend a hand.

For us, giving back to the community isn’t an occasional gesture - it’s a core part of how we operate. Partnering with The Hospice of St Francis was a natural fit, not only because of our shared values, but because we work side‑by‑side throughout the year to support families through complex and emotionally significant stages of life.

🌲 A Record‑Setting Community Effort

This year’s Christmas tree collection delivered phenomenal results. The hospice team proudly reported:

🎄 600 trees collected by corporate supporters
🎄 2,200 trees collected in total
💜 £50,000 raised for The Hospice of St Francis

These numbers aren’t just impressive - they represent genuine community impact. The introduction of a dedicated corporate volunteer day ahead of the main collection weekend helped boost participation and create more opportunities for local businesses to get involved.

As a result, more trees were collected this year than ever before, and vital funds were secured to help the hospice continue their outstanding care.

🌲 A Day of Hard Work, Team Spirit & Joy

From early morning starts to navigating winding driveways and discovering trees, the day was filled with teamwork and good humour. Hesam and Dan joined a wonderful network of volunteers who tackled: towering, heavy Christmas trees, small and brittle ones, shedding needles, expertly decorated trees still bearing the last sparkle of the season, and trees hidden so well they could have been part of a festive treasure hunt

Each tree was hauled with enthusiasm into vans generously supplied by Imperial Van Hire, then transported to be recycled at Veolia, Hemel Stags Rugby League Club, and Amersham Household Recycling Centres.

Many volunteers described the day as “the ultimate post‑Christmas workout” and despite the physical effort, spirits remained high. The sense of camaraderie and purpose was unmistakable, creating an atmosphere full of pride, laughter, and shared achievement.

Why This Event Matters So Much

The Hospice of St Francis provides specialist, compassionate care to people facing life‑limiting illnesses, along with emotional and practical support for their families. Their work is deeply valued across the local area, yet the hospice relies heavily on fundraising to continue offering their services free of charge.

That’s why community‑powered events like the tree collection are so meaningful. Every tree collected represents a contribution towards:

  • Expert nursing and palliative care
  • Emotional support for families
  • Bereavement services
  • Wellbeing programmes
  • The ongoing running of hospice facilities

For Right at Home Hemel Hempstead, supporting the hospice is not just an act of goodwill - it aligns with the collaborative, person‑centred approach we take in our own care delivery. We regularly work with The

Hospice of St Francis in a multidisciplinary capacity, ensuring clients and families have coordinated, high‑quality support in their homes and within hospice services when needed.

Proud to Support the Hospice’s Mission

Hesam and Dan were delighted to contribute to the event and thoroughly enjoyed being part of such an uplifting community effort. This partnership means a lot to our team.

At Right at Home Hemel Hempstead, we work closely with The Hospice of St Francis throughout the year as part of a multi‑disciplinary approach to providing personalised, compassionate care. Together, we ensure that clients and their families receive the right support at the right time - whether at home or within hospice services.

Events like the Christmas Tree Collection demonstrate the remarkable strength of our local community when we come together for a shared cause.
