What is overnight care?

Overnight care in High Wycombe is provided by a qualified CareGiver who stays in your home throughout the night, generally between the hours of 10.00pm to 7.00am.  The exact duration of the shift and the start and end times may vary to meet individual Client needs.

"Right at Home High Wycombe cared for Mum at home until she passed away. They are empathetic, resourceful and compassionate. They provided an evolving package of care, including Waking Nights, by a dedicated team of well trained, professional and very kind caregivers. Mum had been so anxious about accepting any outside help, but she became completely comfortable in their care because of their kindness and competence. "

Types of overnight care available at Right at Home High Wycombe

Night care is typically split into two options: Waking nights (also known as wake-in nights) and Sleeping nights (also known as sleep-in nights), so what is the difference?

Waking nights or sleeping nights

Sleeping nights service caters for Clients with low frequency night-time care requirements who want the reassurance that if there is a care need or incident then a CareGiver is in the home and on hand to support them. With this option, the CareGiver would spend the bulk of the shift in a spare bedroom but be contactable by the Client via a bell or baby monitor if required.

Should the Client need assistance multiple times during the night or need checking on regularly then a waking nights CareGiver is likely to be more suitable.

Waking nights service typically requires the CareGiver to be awake throughout the entire shift and available to offer care, support, and reassurance as frequently as the Client requires. The CareGiver may spend the whole night based in the Client’s bedroom or stationed in a nearby bedroom or sitting room ready to assist and periodically check on the Client.

Who would benefit from overnight support in High Wycombe?

While the obvious answer is the Client themselves, we have found that in many instances night care is as much about reducing the strain on the Client’s family who are themselves providing the night care. This allows them to reclaim a little of their own life as well as some much-needed rest – helping them to go back to being a loved one rather than a Carer.

Whilst we are very fortunate in the Buckinghamshire area to have amazing organisations such as MacMillan and Rennie Grove who can in some instances provide families with overnight care, their resources are extremely stretched and they may not be able to offer the frequency of support you require.
