A Special Visit from the Department of Health and Social Care
Published: 13/10/2025
We were absolutely delighted to host a visit from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) team at our Right at Home Reigate & Crawley office this month. The visit was a valuable opportunity to open our doors and share a behind-the-scenes look at the incredible work our team does every single day.
During their time with us, the DHSC team had the chance to immerse themselves in our operations—learning about the daily logistics of coordinating care, how we ensure quality and safety, and the systems we use to support both our clients and our care professionals. We walked them through our end-to-end care journey, from how we assess new clients and tailor care plans, to how we manage rotas, training, and ongoing wellbeing for our carers.
The team also spent time meeting a number of our dedicated care professionals and even had the chance to speak with some of the clients we support. Hearing personal stories and seeing the genuine, compassionate relationships between carers and clients really brought our work to life in a meaningful way. These interactions are often the most powerful part of visits like this—putting names, faces, and feelings to the essential services we provide.
We were heartened by how engaged and interested the DHSC team were, taking the time to ask thoughtful questions and gain a deeper understanding of the day-to-day realities and challenges faced by care providers like us. It also gave us an important opportunity to share the realities of working in domiciliary care, particularly in a time where the sector continues to face growing demand, workforce pressures, and funding challenges.
Following the visit, we received overwhelmingly positive feedback. The DHSC were particularly impressed by the professionalism, warmth, and exceptional leadership demonstrated throughout the business. They commented on how efficiently run and well-led our office is, noting that the commitment and enthusiasm of our team truly stood out. From our frontline care staff to our office-based support team, every single person contributed to showcasing the heart of our service.
Visits like these are vital in helping shape future policy and funding decisions. By seeing the care sector in action, decision-makers are better equipped to understand where support is needed, and how to ensure services like ours can continue to thrive. We are proud to have been part of this important dialogue and look forward to maintaining an open and productive relationship with the DHSC moving forward.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all staff and clients involved in the visit. Your warmth, professionalism, and openness made a lasting impression, and we are proud to represent such a passionate and committed team.
