What's Happening in Salisbury

As the days grow longer and the weather begins to warm, May is a wonderful time to connect with the local community, enjoy events, and focus on wellbeing.

At Right at Home Salisbury & Andover, we are passionate about being an active part of the community we serve. This month, we are involved in a number of initiatives and events across Salisbury and the surrounding areas, all aimed at supporting older people, families, and carers.

Here's what's happening this May and how you can get involved.

Community Day in Downton

We are so excited to be running the Downton Community Day this month.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet local people, connect with families, and share more about the support available within the community.

Our team will be visible throughout Downton with:

  • Friendly faces ready for a chat
  • Information about homecare and support services
  • Our community giveaway bags, including our much talked about thermometers

Tuesday 12th May

10:00 - 12:00

It is always a highlight for us to spend time out in the community, builing relationships and being a visible, approachable presence.

Navigating Dementia Conference

One of the key events this month is the Navigating Dementia Conference, taking place at Salisbury Methodist Church.

This free event brings together expert speakers, local organisations, and members of the community to offer practical advice, guidance, and support for those living with dementia or caring for someone who is.

Our team will be there supporting the quiet space, offering a calm and welcoming environment for anyone who may need a moment away, some reassurance, or simply someone to talk to.

Tuesday 19th May

12:30 - 16:30

Whether you are a family member, a professional, or simple looking to learn more, this is a valuable event for our local community.

Carer's Corner

We are also thrilled to officially announce the launch of Carer's Corner in collaboration with Braemar Lodge. This is a fantastic initiative we have organised for paid and unpaid carers in Salisbury to access advice, share experiences, and feel supported.

Caring for a loved one can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming at times. Having a space to talk, ask questions, and connect with others can make all the difference.

Supporting Everyday Safety at Home

This month, we are continuing our initative to provide thermometers to older people across Salisbury, Andover, and nearby villages.

It may seem simple, but monitoring room temperature can play a crucial role in protecting older people from risks of cold and heat.

Our care professionsals have already shared how many of our Clients are proudly displaying their thermometers at home, often on fridges or in living spaces, using them as part of their daily routine.

It is a small step that can make a meaningful difference.

Why Community Matters

For us, care is about more than the services we provide in people's homes.

It is about connection, trust, and being part of something bigger. By being present at local events and initiatives, we aim to:

  • Raise awareness of support available
  • Offer practical advice and reassurance
  • Build relationships with families and professionals
  • Create a stronger, more connected community
