Rest & Reminisce: Why We Host Monthly Events for Our Clients
At Right at Home South Liverpool, we believe care is about more than just tasks — it's about moments, memories, and meaningful connection. That’s why we host a very special event every month: Rest & Reminisce.
It’s a simple idea with a big impact — a relaxed space where our clients and their loved ones can come together to share stories, laugh, enjoy good company, and feel a part of something special.
Why We Started Rest & Reminisce
We know loneliness can have a huge impact on wellbeing, especially for older adults. After chatting with our clients and their families, we realised many people missed the joy of storytelling, singing along to a favourite tune, or simply sitting with a cuppa in good company.
So we created Rest & Reminisce — a monthly get-together designed to lift spirits and bring back the feeling of community.
What Happens at a Typical Event?
Every session is a little different, but always full of warmth. You might find:
· Old-time music playing (with plenty of toe-tapping)
· Photo albums, memory boxes, or props from the past
· Tea, cake, and homemade treats
· Friendly conversation, singing, and laughter
· Quiet spaces to relax and feel included — without pressure
Family members are welcome too. Many say it's one of the highlights of their month.
A Moment to Remember: Shirley’s 90th birthday
At a recent Rest & Reminisce event, we had the absolute joy of celebrating Shirley’s 90th birthday. Her daughters joined her, and the room was filled with warmth and smiles as everyone tucked into cake, and sang along to her favourite songs.
The atmosphere was full of love — from the laughter around the tables to the spontaneous singalongs that had everyone clapping and joining in. Shirley and her family were beaming, and many guests said it was one of the most heartwarming afternoons they’d had in a long time.
Moments like that are what make Rest & Reminisce so special.

Rest & Reminisce reflects what we believe: that everyone deserves joy, dignity, and companionship — not just care.
It’s also a chance for families to see how we work, meet our team, and feel reassured about the care their loved ones receive.
