When is an office not an office?

Home is where the heart is. We spend time, thought, passion into making our home a place we can grow be creative and relax in, we think hard about what we hang on the walls and how our furniture matches. We put a lot of energy into being in the best location we can afford or where we feel most connected to. Great job If you achieve all that and love your home.

When I looked at the ideal base for Right at Home I thought long and hard, I talked to friends and other businesses. I had to answer the following questions in order to provide quality care in our local community. Firstly, which location? Business parks are the easiest and cheapest option, downside, it’s out of the way, not visible? How can I make it a place that inspires that I would be happy about our team being in every day? Is the easy way the best way? It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes ‘easy choices, hard life / hard choices easy life”.

I believe that places are more than their environment, it’s the people that make it special, but you can`t leave it at that, good environment does add to wellbeing. After looking at many types of offices I used my heart and plunged for Allerton Road high street. The high street is a vibrant community offering so many gifts, it’s alive with a rich culture of local tastes and represents everything I love about the Liverpool community. The office I settled on was unloved, tiered and needed a lot of work but I felt it answered all my questions from the first visit, it was a decision of the heart and the head.

Right at home is slap bang in the heartland of South Liverpool, I have with a little (a lot) of help from my friends and brush by brush the space has come back to life, offering real value to the local area and a warming home for our support and care team. We now have a base to drop into and a visible local business investing in South Liverpool for the future.

I’m passionate that our home not be an office but a base for free advice if you are starting to look at care and funding, it’s not always easy to understand your options and we will be here to listen to you and signpost you whether it benefits us or not. I am also a dementia champion and offer free information sessions, our base has a small meeting / training room where we can run these services to our community, being visible and present is important for this mission.

The vision is a simple one, create an outstanding home of care. Centered in the community we want to serve, not just an office. The final quote is from Matthew 7:24 ‘Build your house on the rock’
