Autumn Hubbard

Field Care Supervisor

Autumn Hubbard is the Care Coordinator at Right at Home Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Autumn's interest in the care sector began during her A Levels, when she studied Care Studies and discovered just how meaningful and rewarding a career in care could be. However, her understanding of care began much earlier in life.

From the age of 12, Autumn was a young unpaid carer for her mum, who has multiple sclerosis (MS). Supporting her mum from such a young age gave her an understanding of care that goes far beyond what can be learnt in a classroom. This experience was a big contributor to Autumn choosing to build a career in care, and she continues to be inspired by her mum every day.

Autumn was also inspired by the care, compassion and companionship she saw her great-grandmother, who lives with dementia, receive.

Since becoming part of Right at Home, Autumn has developed a much deeper understanding of both the community and operational sides of the care sector. She thrives on finding ways to make things better — for her team, clients and the wider community, and is particularly passionate about caregiver wellbeing. She wants to encourage others to believe in themselves and continue to grow.

Autumn has said about her experience "Working in care has helped me grow enormously as a person. Since joining Right at Home, I have gained confidence, developed new skills and, perhaps most importantly, found a work family. I have people around me who I can laugh with, cry with, learn from, and share experiences with. That is something I truly value, and I think it is one of the most beautiful parts of working in a team.

For me, the best part of working in care is knowing that I can make a difference to someone’s day. Sometimes that can be as simple as being the person who says, “Good morning,” “Good afternoon” or “Goodnight” to someone who may not otherwise have anyone around them. It is helping someone’s grandmother, sister, brother, mother or father get up, ready for the day and feeling their absolute best.

Care is about so much more than completing tasks. It is about connection, dignity, kindness and making people feel seen. Being able to brighten someone’s day, even in a small way, is what makes this career so special to me. My personal experiences have shaped the person I am today, and I feel incredibly proud to be able to turn those experiences into something positive by caring for and supporting others."
