Celebrating the Life Stories of Our Clients
One of the most rewarding parts of what we do at Right at Home Worthing and Shoreham District is getting to know the incredible lives and achievements of the people we support. Every client has a unique story, and it is a privilege to hear about the experiences, memories and milestones that have shaped them.
We believe that great care is built on understanding the whole person, not just their day to day needs. Taking the time to listen and learn about someone’s life helps us build meaningful relationships and deliver truly person centred care.
About Suzan
Suzan is one of the clients we are privileged to support, and she has lived an extraordinary and inspiring life. Throughout her career in nursing, she has been recognised in a number of publications for her dedication, skill and contribution to the profession. Her commitment to caring for others has clearly been a constant throughout her life.
Suzan’s story
Recently, Suzan shared with us another remarkable piece of her history. She showed us an award for Excellence from the 1988 IVCA Festival for a film called Don’t Panic, which she created alongside her husband. This achievement reflects not only her creativity but also her passion and drive beyond her nursing career.
Suzan also shared a very special family photograph that had been given to her father by the Royal Family. On closer inspection, we noticed it was personally signed by Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II in 1961, making it a truly unique and historic keepsake.
It was a privilege to spend time with Suzan and hear more about her life. Conversations like these are a powerful reminder of the rich histories and experiences each person carries with them.
We never stop learning from the people we support, and it is always humbling to hear about the achievements, memories and moments that have shaped their lives.
Why these moments matter
At Right at Home Worthing and Shoreham District, we are passionate about providing care that goes beyond support with daily living. We take time to build genuine relationships with our clients, because we know that understanding someone’s life story helps us deliver more meaningful and personalised care.
These conversations help us see the person behind the care needs and allow us to provide support that is respectful, tailored and truly individual.
