October Newsletter: Celebrating Our Achievements and Community
Welcome to our October newsletter! It has been a busy and rewarding time at Right at Home Central Wiltshire, with exciting award wins, national recognition, community events and new faces joining our care team.
This month, we are celebrating the people who make a difference every day, sharing useful resources for families and highlighting opportunities to stay active, connected and supported in our local community.
Celebrating Our Award-Winning Team
We are delighted to have been named Business of the Year at the Right at Home Awards 2026, while our Registered Manager, Amy Purps, received the Rising Star of the Year Award.
Held on 16 September, the ceremony brought together teams from across the Right at Home network to celebrate their achievements.
These awards recognise the dedication, teamwork and progress of our whole organisation. Over the past year, we have continued to develop our services, strengthen community partnerships and introduce initiatives to support our Clients and help reduce loneliness. Read the full story here.
We are also proud of our 9.9 rating on Homecare.co.uk and our recognition as a Top 20 Home Care Provider in the South West.
Our Managing Director, Jack Miller, expressed how proud he was of the team's achievements and thanked everyone for their hard work and commitment.
Most importantly, we would like to thank our Clients and families for their continued trust and support. These achievements belong to everyone who makes a positive difference through the care and support we provide.
Congratulations to Amy and the whole team!
Great British Care Awards: Three Finalist Places
We are delighted to announce that Right at Home Central Wiltshire has been shortlisted for three awards at the Great British Care Awards.
Our finalist places are:
Home Care Employer Award – recognising our commitment to supporting and developing our team
Outstanding Contribution to Social Care – Caroline Evans
Home Care Registered Manager – Amy Purps
We are incredibly proud of Caroline, Amy and everyone in our team. These nominations recognise the care, commitment and hard work that go into supporting our Clients and their families every day.
The winners will be announced on 19 November. We wish all the finalists the very best of luck and look forward to celebrating the achievements of the social care community.
October Exercise Challenge: Balance and Stability
As the weather gets cooler, October is a great time to focus on balance and stability. Gentle balance exercises can help improve confidence when moving around and support our efforts to reduce the risk of falls.
Your October challenge: Try standing on one leg for 5–10 seconds, three to five times a day, if it is safe and suitable for you.
Remember to put safety first:
Hold onto a sturdy chair, countertop or other secure support.
Choose a clear, safe space where you can exercise comfortably.
Stop immediately if you feel dizzy or unsteady.
If you have concerns about your balance, speak to a healthcare professional before trying the exercise.
Small, regular steps can help build confidence and support independence. Always choose activities that suit your individual abilities.
Connecting with Our Community at Chippenham Health and Wellbeing Day
It was lovely to meet so many people at the Chippenham Health and Wellbeing Day at the Olympiad Leisure Centre.
Our team enjoyed demonstrating CPR and basic life support skills, chatting with visitors and raising awareness of how people can stay safe and independent at home.
The event brought together local organisations and services with a shared commitment to improving health and wellbeing in our community.
A big thank you to the Living Well Team for inviting us, and to everyone who visited our stand and took part in the activities. We enjoyed making new connections and sharing practical information that can make a difference to everyday life.
We look forward to taking part in more local events in the future.
Support for Family Carers: Dementia Training
Supporting a loved one living with dementia can be rewarding, but it can also bring challenges, questions and moments of uncertainty. Having access to the right information and support can make a real difference.
Beyond Dementia offers a free seven-week online training course for family carers. The course provides practical information, guidance and support for people caring for someone living with dementia.
The course runs three or four times a year. A £15 returnable deposit is requested to secure a place. After completing the course, participants can choose to donate their deposit to Beyond Dementia.
If you are supporting a family member with dementia, or know someone who might benefit, you can find out more here:

We encourage families to explore the resources available and remember that seeking support is an important part of caring for someone else.
Discover What's On with the New GO Malmesbury Guide
We are pleased to share the new GO Malmesbury Guide, created to help older people stay active, connected and involved in their local community.
The guide brings together local groups, activities, services and places to visit in and around Malmesbury, making it easier to discover what is happening nearby.
Finding opportunities to get out, meet others and try something new can help people maintain social connections and enjoy a greater sense of belonging.
Whether you are looking for a new activity, a local group or somewhere interesting to visit, we hope the guide will help more people discover everything our wonderful Malmesbury community has to offer.

Welcoming New Faces to Our Care Team
We are pleased to welcome our newest Carers to Right at Home Central Wiltshire.
They have completed their training and spent time shadowing experienced Carers, helping them develop their skills and prepare to support Clients in the community.
As they begin their roles, you may see some new faces when receiving your care. Our team will continue to support them as they gain experience and build positive relationships with the people they care for.
We are delighted to have them on board and look forward to the positive difference they will make to our Clients and their families.
A warm welcome to everyone joining the team!
