As a qualified Accountant, for over 10 years I have had a successful career, but I rarely felt that I added value to the lives of others, like I had in my teenage years. It was not until the birth of my son, Felix that I had some time away from my career and became a full-time carer to him, that I felt it was time for a change.

At the age of 15, I started working weekends and school holidays at a residential care home as a domestic support to the weekend carers. I became a carer almost as soon as I turned 16 and continued to work weekends and school holidays for another 6 years until I graduated and moved away from the area to embark on a career in Finance. During these years, I cared for many residents requiring various levels of support and built strong relationships along the way. With such a high level of job satisfaction, I always loved my job and would take as many shifts as I could – even on Christmas Day!

However, one of the most common, and distressing elements of this job was the reluctance of new residents who came to live in the home. I do not recall one person that wanted to leave their own home, even if they accepted it was in their best interests in order to get the care and support that they needed.

It is for this reason that I am so passionate about being able to offer an alternative to residential care. I am not just proud to be building my own business but also proud to deliver my own vision of providing the right care, the right way and at the right time for our clients. In doing so we will be able to make a real difference to the lives of others, by supporting people to maintain independence, offer choice and enhance quality of life.

In my spare time, I love to get out into the fresh air and countryside and take long walks with Danny, Felix, Annabel and Cocktail, our little sausage dog. He may only have short legs but he will walk for miles, so long as it’s not raining!
