Louisa

Registered Manager

Our Care & Compliance Manager has been working for Right at home Oxford the longest.

She is in the care industry in UK for more than 10 years, and brought her experience and knowledge to Right at Home Oxford and was happy answering some questions about herself and her work life.

Let's meet our Registered Manager!

Where did I start and where am I now?

I began my career in administrative roles within the NHS, gaining a strong foundation in healthcare systems and support. I then moved into the charity sector, working as a Service Manager for a mental health organisation for over five years. From there, I progressed into Learning Disabilities services, where I worked as both a Registered Manager and an Area Manager, supporting individuals to live fulfilling lives while promoting independence and person‑centred care.

First impressions of Right at Home Oxford?

My first impressions of Right at Home were extremely positive. I found the team to be genuinely caring, which was incredibly important to me. From the outset, it was clear that their focus was on providing real compassion and support, not just delivering a service.

Working for a CQC Outstanding company is something I’m incredibly proud of. It’s wonderful to see the organisation recognised for the high‑quality work we do. But for me, the most important part is the standard of care we provide every day — not just to our clients, but also to their loved ones. Knowing that we make a real difference to people’s lives is what matters most.

How committed am I to continue Outstanding rating?

I’m fully committed to helping us maintain our Outstanding rating. For me, it’s not just about the recognition — it’s about consistently delivering the highest standard of care to every client, every day. I believe Outstanding isn’t a one‑off achievement; it’s something we uphold through our actions, our values, and the way we support both clients and their families. I’m dedicated to playing my part in keeping those standards strong and continuing to improve wherever we can.

Why do I want to work for Right at Home Oxford?

I want to work for Right at Home Oxford because from the moment I first connected with the team, I felt a genuine warmth and sincerity. They weren’t just talking about delivering good care — they truly cared, and that really stood out to me. I’ve always been passionate about supporting people to live well, and I could immediately see that this is a company where those values aren’t just words on a page. They’re lived every day.

Why did I choose care?

I chose a career in care because it has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up caring for my younger sister, who had significant needs, and supporting her shaped who I am. She passed away in 2022, and since then I’ve felt a strong desire to continue giving to others the kind of care, compassion, and support she received. Working in care allows me to honour her memory by helping others live with dignity, comfort, and kindness.

Why do I love my job?

I love my job because I get to make a real difference in people’s lives. Being invited into someone’s world at a time when they need support is a privilege, and it allows me to see parts of life that many people never get to witness. It’s those moments of trust, connection, and genuine impact that make this work so meaningful to me.

What are my Values?

My core values are honesty, loyalty, caring, and passion. I believe in being open and truthful in everything I do, standing by the people I support, and always showing genuine care and compassion. I’m passionate about making a difference, and that drives the way I work and the way I treat others.

My background?

I’m a Yorkshire girl, born and bred, but I’ve lived all over the UK throughout my life. Moving around has given me the chance to meet so many different people and experience a variety of communities, but I’ve always kept that Yorkshire warmth and down‑to‑earth attitude with me wherever I go.

Interesting or fun fact about me?

An interesting fact about me is that I walk miles every day with my dogs — rain or shine — and I genuinely love it.

What is important to me?

What matters most to me is my family — especially my husband and our dogs. They’re my grounding force and the heart of my everyday life. Spending time with them keeps me balanced, happy, and connected to what’s truly important.

My hobbies and interests?

In my spare time, I love getting outdoors and walking every day with my dogs. Staying active is really important to me, and being out in nature helps me recharge and keep a healthy balance in my life.
