Senior CareGiver

Schennel is proud to be part of the Right at Home Oxford team, where she has worked for three years. She began her career in care because she wanted to make a genuine difference in people’s lives. Following a difficult personal loss, she decided to pursue a career where she could have a meaningful impact on others.

Through experience, learning, and dedication, Schennel has developed her confidence and knowledge and progressed into her role as a Senior CareGiver. She enjoys supporting clients directly, as well as encouraging and guiding other CareGivers.

What stood out to Schennel about Right at Home Oxford was the emphasis on dignity, respect, kindness, and high professional standards. She was impressed by the way the organisation values both clients and CareGivers and genuinely cares about making a positive difference.

Person-centred care is at the heart of Schennel's approach. She understands that every person has their own personality, preferences, routines, and life experiences. She finds it incredibly rewarding to support people to remain independent and comfortable in their own homes.

For Schennel, care is about seeing the person before the task. She loves that no two days are the same and enjoys building meaningful relationships with the people she supports. Whether providing personal care, preparing a meal, having a conversation, or simply being there for someone, she values the opportunity to make a positive difference.

Her experience of caring for her own loved one has also given her a deeper understanding of the importance of making people feel valued, respected, listened to, and supported.

Outside of work, Schennel enjoys spending time with family and friends, relaxing, keeping active, and focusing on her personal goals and wellbeing.

Looking ahead, Schennel hopes to continue developing her leadership skills, supporting her colleagues, and contributing to the high standard of care at Right at Home Oxford.
