Walking in Their Shoes: A Powerful Dementia Training Experience
Right at Home Oxford recently partnered with Training 2 CARE UK Ltd to host the Virtual Dementia Tour, delivered through their specially equipped Dementia Bus.
Training 2 CARE is a highly respected organisation dedicated to improving dementia care through innovative, immersive training experiences. Their work focuses on helping care professionals and families better understand the realities of living with dementia, enabling more compassionate and effective support.
This impactful event brought together members of our Care Team, office staff, and family members of our Clients, all united by a shared goal — to deepen their understanding of dementia and enhance the quality of care we provide.
The Virtual Dementia Tour offers a unique, hands-on experience that simulates the sensory and cognitive challenges often faced by people living with dementia. Participants gain valuable insight into the confusion, frustration, and disorientation that can be part of daily life for those affected by the condition.
The feedback from the day was incredibly powerful. Many described the experience as eye-opening and transformational, highlighting just how important this type of training is. It not only challenges assumptions but also strengthens empathy, equipping our team with the knowledge and awareness needed to deliver truly person-centred care.
At Right at Home Oxford, we believe that strong communities are built on collaboration, understanding, and continuous learning. We are proud to work alongside organisations like Training 2 CARE to support both our team and the wider community.
A standout moment from the event was seeing the shared reflections and discussions that followed the sessions, with participants openly discussing their experiences and how they would apply their new understanding in real-life care situations.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the team at Training 2 CARE, our dedicated staff, and everyone who took part in this meaningful experience. Making a positive difference in our community remains at the heart of everything we do, and we look forward to hosting more impactful events in the future.
