How much do companionship care services cost in Southampton?
The price of our homecare will depend on the Client’s individual needs and the number of hours of care provided. We recommend a minimum of one hour for any care visit to provide safe and effective care provision. But we can discuss how regularly you’d like these visits before providing an estimated cost of care.
You may also be eligible for support from Hampshire County Council or Southampton City Council, depending on your financial circumstances and care needs. We’re happy to help you understand what funding options might be available.
What is companionship care?
Companionship care provides emotional support, social interaction, and practical help — all from a friendly face who genuinely enjoys your company. It’s about staying connected to the things and people you love, and feeling seen and valued.
Together, we build Care & Support Plans that offer:
- Everyday Living: Shopping, cooking, light housework, and managing appointments
- Social Wellbeing: Encouragement to stay active in the community and enjoy hobbies
- Emotional Health: Kind, consistent presence to reduce feelings of isolation
What does a companion for the elderly do?
Our companions are not just available for elderly support. We support adults of any age with everyday tasks and daily activities. In doing so, companion care enables continued independence and supports wellbeing.
Most of all, our Carers are there to listen and interact. Private companion services can prevent feelings of isolation and loneliness, which can have a big impact on a person’s health.
Companionship care is often about the small but meaningful moments that help people feel connected and valued. That might include sharing meals together, accompanying someone to appointments, enjoying hobbies, helping with shopping, or simply having regular conversation and company throughout the week. For many people across Southampton, having a familiar and trusted face visit regularly can make everyday life feel more enjoyable, reassuring, and fulfilling.
Can I choose my own companion?
Yes, wherever possible we’ll match you with a Carer who shares similar interests, values and personality traits. We know that companionship works best when there’s genuine connection and trust. Before your care begins, we’ll introduce you to your Carer to make sure you both feel comfortable and confident.
Building trusted relationships is an important part of high-quality homecare. We take time to understand your routines, interests, and personality so we can carefully match you with somebody you genuinely enjoy spending time with.
Whether you enjoy football, gardening, walks around Southampton, or simply having somebody to share a conversation and a cup of tea with, we want companionship to feel natural and personal rather than clinical or rushed.
Is companionship care flexible?
Absolutely. Our companionship care can be arranged for as little or as often as you like — from a few hours a week to daily visits or live-in support. If your circumstances change, we can easily adjust your care plan to make sure it continues to fit around your lifestyle and preferences.
Do you provide companionship outside the home?
Yes. Many of our Clients enjoy getting out and about with their Carer — whether that’s a trip to the shops, a walk in the park, attending community groups, or visiting friends and family. Our companions can provide transport and support so you can continue enjoying the activities and places you love safely and confidently.
For many people, remaining connected to the local community plays a big role in emotional wellbeing and confidence. Our Carers regularly accompany Clients across Southampton to cafés, local events, appointments, waterfront areas, parks, and favourite familiar places, helping people continue enjoying the routines and experiences that bring meaning and enjoyment to everyday life.
How can companionship care support me in my local community?
Companionship care is not just about support at home. It is also about helping you stay connected to the people, places, and routines that are important to you.
Our Carers can accompany you to local cafés, community groups, appointments, places of worship, or simply support you in getting out and about with confidence and reassurance alongside you.
Across Southampton, our Clients enjoy a wide range of activities tailored around their interests and lifestyle. That might mean enjoying a coffee at Mettricks, taking a gentle stroll through Southampton Common, visiting the waterfront around Ocean Village, or attending services and community events at St Michael's Church.
Some Clients enjoy shopping trips into the city centre, while others value support attending local groups, meeting friends, or visiting familiar places that help them feel connected to their community and daily routines.
Our role is always to support people in continuing to live life their way, helping everyday experiences remain safe, enjoyable, and familiar while reducing feelings of isolation or loss of confidence.
