Right at Home Bishop's Stortford & Braintree provides quality homecare in Little Dunmow. Our office is situated only a few miles away in Great Dunmow.

Right at Home is a franchise network in the UK where the quality of our service is the no.1 priority. Our office is independently owned and managed but we all sign up to the values and ethos of the Right at Home network. Right at Home is recognised as one of the top homecare providers in the UK - in 2023 homecare.co.uk placed us as the third best-rated provider in the UK.

This was even more of an achievement because of Right at Home's relative size: We had at least 11 times the number of offices compared to the others in the top 5. Our third place was based on Right at Home's average rating of 9.8 on homecare.co.uk.

So what about our office? Of course our no.1 priority is quality and we pride ourselves on being highly responsive to our Clients. We are values driven and operate like a large family as we only bring people in who match our values. You can see what our Clients think about us in online reviews.

Fun Fact: The notorious highwayman Dick Turpin is said to have visited Little Dunmow and even hidden in the village during his crime spree. Dick Turpin was eventually executed in York in 1739 for the theft of a horse.

A Short History of Little Dunmow

Little Dunmow is a beautiful and historic village located in Essex. It has a rich history dating back more than a thousand years. Little Dunmow gained prominence in the early 12th century when Geoffrey de Mandeville, the 1st Earl of Essex, founded the Priory of Little Dunmow.

The picture opposite is a bench donated to the village by the Priory Vintage Club in 2011.

This religious institution was known for its strict monastic rules, including an annual custom known as the "Little Dunmow Flitch Trials." The Flitch Trials, established in the 13th century, awarded a flitch (side) of bacon to couples who could prove that they had lived in harmony and mutual love for a year and a day.

In the Middle Ages, Little Dunmow was a thriving agricultural community, but like many English villages, it suffered during the Black Death in the 14th century. Over the centuries, it continued to evolve, becoming a quieter, picturesque settlement with charming historic architecture.

Today, Little Dunmow is a tranquil village, known for its quaint cottages and its historical connections, particularly to the Flitch Trials, which have recently been revived as a tourist attraction. It serves as a reminder of the village's enduring charm and deep-rooted heritage.

Fun Fact: There is a highly-rated restaurant in Little Dunmow which was called The Flitch of Bacon until a refurbishment in 2023. It is now known as The Pig and Truffle

Why Choose Right at Home?

We are private client homecare provider that takes time to get to know you and your family when planning the provision of care. We tend to have longer call durations so the team can build up a trusting and lasting relationship with our Clients.

Live-In Care Services in Little Dunmow

Right at Home Bishop's Stortford & Braintree can provide you or your loved one with a live-in CareGiver. Live in care is a genuine and, for many, desirable alternative to residential care and can enable you to stay at home, even if you have more advanced care and support needs.

Live-in care can be more cost effective than residential care, especially for couples.

Each live-in care arrangement is unique because it is about the Client and how they would like to be supported. So how does it work? Our live-in carer would need their own room and a break during the day. While in the house with you, our live in carer will follow the same tailored care plan as we have for all of our Clients. The duration of the live in carer's stay is variable, often people do a certain number of weeks, then take a break.

Most people do not think too much about care provision until they really need to and it can be overwhelming when trying to work out the best route to take. If you would like to find out more about live-in care, or any of our other services, please do contact our friendly team today at Right at Home Bishop's Stortford & Braintree.
