Sarah Mulvain
Carer Experience Supervisor
I play a key role in developing confident, competent care professionals from their very first interaction with our organisation. I lead interviews as part of the induction process, identifying individuals with the right values and potential to deliver high-quality care.
As a hands-on trainer and supervisor, I support new caregivers throughout their journey, delivering induction training, guiding them in real-world care settings, and assessing their competence in the field. I work closely with both live-in and domiciliary carers, conducting support visits that ensure best practices are maintained and that both carers and clients feel supported.
I am responsible for overseeing the completion of the Care Certificate within the first 12 weeks of employment, providing structured guidance, practical assessments, and ongoing mentorship. My role bridges training and frontline care, ensuring caregivers not only meet required standards but feel confident, capable, and valued in their work.
Nine years ago, I was a young woman with no experience in care, just looking for a fulfilling and rewarding job. I had been working with children and thought that was the career path I wanted, until I got my first job as a live-in carer. I remember feeling nervous and unsure of myself at first, but it turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. It completely changed my perspective, and from that moment on, I knew that care was where I was meant to be.
Working for Right at Home has been an amazing experience. I’ve grown from being a carer to a senior carer, and now to being part of the heart of how the company runs. It’s been such a rewarding journey to see the difference we make every day.
What I love most about my job is seeing all the different aspects of what we do and being part of running a supportive and caring company. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that we make such a difference in people’s lives every single day. I also love supporting and training our carers to be the best they can be, and sharing the experiences I’ve had along the way, especially with those who are just starting out, just like I was nine years ago.
I began my caring journey Nine years ago, looking after a lady in the late stages of dementia. When her care was transferred to Right at Home, I helped train the new carers on how to look after her. I’ll never forget the moment the manager saw me in action and asked if I’d like to join their team, she told me she’d never seen a carer quite like me.
I officially joined Right at Home in 2022. We continued caring for the lady until she sadly passed away, after which I became a domiciliary carer. When I fell pregnant, I was offered the opportunity to help out in the office to broaden my knowledge, which I gladly accepted. When I returned, I was offered a role as Office Assistant then quickly progressed into a Carer Experience Supervisor, a position I’m truly proud of. I’ve never worked for a company that looks after its team the way Right at Home does.
I’m a proud mum to a beautiful one-year a half year -old boy, he’s our whole world and keeps us smiling every day.
Excellent care means treating the people you look after with dignity and respect, just as you would want to be treated yourself. I always think about how I would want my own family member to be cared for. Everyone deserves to be treated with compassion, kindness, and respect, no matter their circumstances.
