Supporting Clients After a Fall at Home
From the New Year, we’re pleased to be introducing an enhanced falls response service for our Clients — giving families added reassurance and ensuring loved ones are supported quickly, safely and with care if a fall happens at home.
A fall can be upsetting for everyone involved. For Clients, it can be frightening and uncomfortable, and for families, it can be worrying not knowing what happens next or whether emergency services are needed. This new service is designed to take that worry away, with clear processes and trained staff ready to respond calmly and confidently.
Our focus is always on the safety, wellbeing and independence of our Clients. When a fall occurs, our experienced senior team will be there to provide reassurance, carry out the right checks and make thoughtful decisions — ensuring each Client receives the support that’s right for them at that moment.
Assessing, Not Guessing
As part of this service, our senior team have been trained to use the Community Triage Tool (CoTT) — a simple, trusted checklist designed to support the assessment of falls, minor injuries and sudden illness in the home.
Based on the Manchester Triage System, one of the most trusted triage frameworks worldwide, CoTT enables us to:
- Spot any serious or concerning symptoms quickly
- Understand how urgent the situation is
- Decide on the most appropriate next step — whether that’s calling an ambulance, arranging medical care, or providing reassurance at home
This careful structured approach helps ensure Clients get the help they need without unnecessary emergency call-outs, while ensuring serious concerns are escalated quickly and appropriately — particularly important for vulnerable people living at home.
Monitoring Health with Added Reassurance
In addition to triage assessments, we can also check vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse and oxygen levels using our Whzan Box.
These readings create a NEWS (National Early Warning Score) — a recognised system used across the NHS, GP practices, hospitals and ambulance services. So, if emergency support is required, this information can be shared to help ensure a timely and appropriate response, with ambulance crews arriving prepared with the correct level of urgency.
Safely Helping Clients Back on Their Feet
When it’s safe and all checks have been completed, our team can help Clients back onto their feet using our Raizer Chair — so they don’t have to stay on the floor feeling cold, uncomfortable or distressed.
The Raizer Chair is a gentle emergency lifting chair that is assembled around the Client and slowly raises them in a safe and dignified way. This allows us to quickly and reassuringly support Clients back into a comfortable position, helping them feel settled and cared for.
By using the Raizer Chair, we can reduce time spent on the floor, ease anxiety and discomfort, and often avoid the need for an ambulance when medical attention isn’t required — allowing Clients to remain safely at home with the support they trust.
Reassurance When It Matters Most
Falls can happen — but how they are managed makes all the difference. Our enhanced falls response service will bring together compassionate care, clear assessments, health monitoring and safe lifting equipment to support Clients when they need it most.
It reflects our ongoing commitment to high-quality care, promoting independence and giving families peace of mind — knowing their loved ones are safe and supported by a team they trust.
