The Big Green Picnic - What Happened on our Big Day

Published: 01/08/2025

On 31st July 2025, Right at Home Medway hosted The Big Green Picnic at the beautiful Osbern Manor, in proud partnership with Dementia Adventure. The event brought together Clients, Care Assistants, families, and members of the community for a relaxed, dementia-friendly celebration filled with joy, connection, and meaningful activities.

Guests enjoyed a variety of thoughtfully planned activities designed to promote creativity, wellbeing, and interaction. Highlights included:

- Dementia-friendly arts & crafts, including decorating photo frames to take home as a keepsake.

- Flower arranging, using fresh, donated blooms from Morrisons Walderslade.

- Bingo with a dementia-friendly twist, encouraging participation and gentle cognitive activity, complete with a special hamper prize for our lucky winner!

- Cupcakes and refreshments, generously donated and lovingly shared.

The event embodied the Right at Home Medway values of person-centred care, community engagement, and going the extra mile. It also reflected our ongoing commitment to supporting people living with dementia in a warm, inclusive environment.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Morrisons Walderslade for their flower and cupcake donations, Gordon Kelsey for donating a beautiful piece of original artwork for our raffle, and to all the incredible Care Assistants and staff who helped bring the day to life.

The Big Green Picnic was more than just an event. It was a celebration of companionship, care, and community spirit.

We look forward to more uplifting events like this in the future!
