Nichola Clayton - Care Coordinator
- Why did you start working in care?
I have always naturally had the passion for helping people, my mum has always worked in care so growing up I have seen firsthand how she made a difference to people’s lives
- Where are you from?
I was born in Warrington and lived here my whole life. My mum still lives in the home I grew up in from the age of 3.
- What did you want to be when you were younger?
When I was younger, I dreamed of being a vet, growing up around lots of animals (horses, chickens, dogs ) I used to play vets with my sisters and friends. When my childhood dog passed, I knew it would be heartbreaking to have to deal with that side of the job and my vison changed
- If you could choose any super-power what would it be and why?
My superpower would be to teleport. I would love to see the world without the travel time, to be everywhere that matters and to be able to make the most memories possible
- What do you do to unwind after a long day?
After a long day I like to sit in the moment with my two boys and enjoy family time, setting up camp in front of the tv and watching movies with a picnic tea. I also like to go swimming, this calms and clears my head whenever I feel overwhelmed
- What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to get into care?
My advice on anyone wanting a career in care would be to do it for the love of making a difference in people’s lives not just the pay check. For me, the biggest attribute a caregiver could have is empathy . Nobody is perfect but being caring, patient and being a good listener is most important.
