Carer smiling at client

"I cannot recommend Right at Home highly enough. I live in Canada and so am unable to give the support to my sister I would want. The carers from Right at Home really do care! They are completely trustworthy. The improvement they have made to my sister's quality of life is huge. I know she is in safe hands. Thank you to the team for the wonderful job you do."

Tules Hill Local History and Places to Visit

In 1810 Tulse Hill Farm was the only building in the the area.  An 1832 map shows that Tulse Hill still had only a few buildings on the new roads. Major development of the area did not come until the opening of the Tulse Hill railway station in the 1860s.  Most of the original villas with large gardens on the original Edwards-Cressingham landholding have been redeveloped at much higher densities for council housing since the 1930s.

In 2022 Lambeth Council initiated a consultation with residents as to renaming the area, to avoid a possible association with Henry Tulse who was once a board member of the Royal African Company, a slave-trading concern in the seventeenth century.

Places to Visit

Holy Trinity Church this lovely Church built in 1850s has a great feature in that the aisled nave, transepts and chancel are arranged so that no internal pillars block the congregation's view of the pulpit and altar. John Sentamu, later Archbishop of York, was vicar of Holy Trinity Church for 13 years.

Brockwell Park this a great park to visit with a lovely cafe often visited by our carers with their clients.  The park has great views over London and is a designated Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC).  The best parts of the large park feature mature trees including ancient oaks, substantial lawn areas set to meadow, and a series of lakes.  Not to be missed!

Brockwell Lido this classic 1930s lido is very popular with the local community - who on several occasions over the years have had to battle to keep the pool open.  This site also has a nice cafe!  As the heat rises in the city, it can in fact get a little crowded.  On 25 July 2019, amidst record high temperatures across the UK, the police were called as around 500 people tried to "storm" the Lido!

Tulse Hill Station

Tulse Hill station has excellent quick rail links into Central London.  The local area is dominated by traffic on the very busy South Circular.  Our favourite haunts in Tulse Hill for a night out are the Tulse Hill Hotel and Siam Niyom, a great Thai restaurant.

This striking retro design is one of many appearing in London.

London’s historic railway bridges are being transformed into stunning pieces of art thanks to Network Rail’s unique partnership with a street artist and community groups.  Network Rail has teamed up with Lionel Stanhope, a sign writer renowned for his vintage typography work, to paint murals on the railway across the capital. Lionel, who has painted sets for Hollywood movies and even Disneyland, has transformed nine bridges so far, and has now set his sights on completing another five murals before the end of the year.
