What Is the Big Green Picnic?

The Big Green Picnic is a nationwide celebration launched by Right at Home and Dementia Adventure. The aim? To bring communities together in the great outdoors, challenge the stigma around dementia, and reconnect people with nature.

We’re transforming the gardens at Willowbrook View into a welcoming space full of connection, joy, and meaningful moments. Whether you’re a carer, a family member, or simply someone who wants to support a good cause, this event is for you.

Who Are Dementia Adventure?

Dementia Adventure is a UK charity that thinks differently about dementia. Instead of focusing on limitations, they empower people living with dementia to stay active and connected through supported holidays, research and outdoor experiences.

Their work helps combat loneliness and isolation by removing the barriers that can come with a diagnosis – and that’s why we’re proud to be raising funds in support of them.

💸 Can’t attend? You can still make a donation to support Dementia Adventure here.

Why We’re Talking About Dementia

There’s still so much stigma surrounding dementia. It’s a condition that affects nearly 900,000 people in the UK, but too often, those living with it feel misunderstood or left out.

This event isn’t just about raising money – it’s about starting conversations, challenging stereotypes, and showing what’s possible when people with dementia are included and supported.

What to Expect on the Day

We’ve got an incredible afternoon lined up, including:

  • Live entertainment
  • Tasty treats
  • Picnic-style food
  • Dementia-friendly activities
  •  A beautiful, calm garden space to relax and enjoy
  • Trained staff available to provide respite support if needed

You’ll also have the opportunity to explore Willowbrook View as part of Care Home Open Week – a great chance to look around and learn more about what modern care looks like.

Book your free ticket today – it only takes a minute!
