Client Afternoon Tea
Celebrating Community and Care

A Warm and Welcoming Afternoon
We had the pleasure of bringing our clients, their families, and members of our care team together for an Afternoon Tea Get-Together at Newport Salop Bowling Club. It was a relaxed setting where people could simply enjoy each other’s company. The room soon filled with the sound of friendly conversations, laughter, and the kind of warmth that only comes from shared moments.
For many of our clients, a change of scenery and the chance to connect with others make a real difference, and it was lovely to see everyone settle in so comfortably.
One client summed it up perfectly:
“It’s just nice to be out with everyone. You forget how much you miss this until you’re here.”
A Chance to Pause and Connect
What made the afternoon feel special was the natural connections people formed. It wasn’t about the cakes, the music, or the venue; it was the opportunity to sit with others, share stories, and enjoy a change of pace.
A family member told us:
“My wife has been looking forward to this all week. It’s lovely to see her chatting away with others and making new friends.”
Moments like these remind us that social connection is a key part of wellbeing, especially for those who may have limited opportunities to meet others regularly.
Music That Made the Afternoon
Chanel’s singing, accompanied by Usman on the guitar, brought a lovely rhythm to the afternoon. What stood out wasn’t just the performance itself, but the way the music quietly changed the atmosphere in the room. You could see shoulders relax, faces soften, and memories surface as familiar songs were sung.
For some of our clients, music unlocks moments that everyday conversation sometimes can’t reach. It prompts stories, sparks recognition, and brings a sense of comfort that is hard to replicate.
Music has that special ability to connect people, no matter how different their days might look. It added something truly meaningful to the afternoon and helped everyone feel more at ease and more connected to one another.
Supporting Family Carers in Telford
We were pleased to welcome Anna, Community Link Worker from the Telford and Wrekin All Age Carers Centre, who joined us to share information about the support available for family and unpaid carers. Her contribution was an important part of the afternoon, not only because of the resources she highlighted, but because she recognised the emotional, physical, and often invisible work that families carry each day.
Family carers play an extraordinary role in helping their loved ones remain independent at home. Many provide support quietly, balancing work, family life, and their own well-being. They are the ones prompting daily routines, offering reassurance during uncertain moments, and providing the practical help that keeps everyday life steady.
Anna spoke about the services available locally, from wellbeing groups and carer assessments to respite options and training; all designed to ensure carers do not feel they have to carry everything alone. What mattered most was the message that help is accessible, and that seeking support is not a sign of struggling but a sign of strength.
Her talk echoed themes from one of our recent blogs, “For the Quiet Strength You Give,” where we reflected on the resilience and compassion shown by family carers behind the scenes. Just as we shared there, events like this remind us that the well-being of family carers is just as important as the well-being of the people they support.
By giving family members a safe space to speak openly, connect with others, and hear about the services available to them, we hope they feel reassured that they are valued, recognised, and very much part of the wider care community we are building here at Right at Home Telford.
Why These Gatherings Matter
Events like this remind us why we do what we do. Care is practical, yes, but it’s also deeply relational. People feel at their best when they feel seen, valued, and connected. That sense of belonging is every bit as important as the support we provide day to day.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Newport Bowling Club for their warm hospitality. It was a simple afternoon, but judging by the smiles and the conversations that lingered long after the tea was poured, it was clearly appreciated.
We are already looking forward to the next one; another chance to bring our community together in a way that feels natural, comfortable, and uplifting.
