Right at Home North Leeds, Otley and Horsforth are proud to cover Yeadon and the surrounding areas in North Leeds. By providing quality care in your home, we can help you to stay as independent as possible and remain living in the area you love and call “home”.

Our fully trained CareGivers are on hand for a range of services, including companionship, respite care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication assistance and dementia care. Our services are tailored to meet the individual needs of our Clients.  We carefully match our CareGivers and Clients so that they have shared hobbies, interests or culture meaning that relationships flourish.

We take great pride in introducing our CareGivers to our Clients before they begin their service, so there are no strangers just turning up at the door!

With Right at Home there are no rushed visits, no endless merry-go-rounds of carers, and no missed visits. You will have a small team of CareGivers who know you, and you - them. Our visits are for a minimum of an 1 hour, giving plenty of time to get things done at your pace. We arrive at a time to suit you, and pride ourselves at being on time so you are not left waiting.

This is care as it is meant to be – focussed on you as an individual.

Yeadon, West Yorkshire

We love Yeadon!  From walks around Yeadon Tarn to nights at the theatre at Yeadon Town Hall, there is always something to do. Here are just some of our favourite activities to do in Yeadon with our Clients:

Visits to Yeadon Tarn with our Home Care Clients

We just love going for a walk around Yeadon Tarn – or “the dam” as true Yeadon folk call it! The wide and level wheelchair accessible paths, plentiful benches and ample disabled parking spaces (at The Tarn Activity Centre car park, off Town Street) make it an ideal walking route for our Clients, including those with mobility issues.  Yeadon Tarnfield Park is also the perfect spot to watch the various water sporting activities at The Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre.  For those who like a spot of fishing there is The Specialised Pleasure Angling Club too.

On a summer’s day we like nothing more than getting a 99 from the ice-cream van and sitting on a bench with our Clients feeding the ducks or doing a little plane spotting.  Enjoy some great, close up, views of the planes taking off and landing from Leeds Bradford Airport.

Leeds Bradford Airport, Yeadon – Plane Spotting with our Clients

With Yeadon’s long association with aircraft and industry it is no wonder that many of our Clients come from an engineering background – and a trip to view the aeroplanes can often evoke some fantastic memories, particularly in those living with Dementia or Alzheimer’s. You don’t have to be an engineer though to enjoy a bit of plane spotting.  A lot of our Clients enjoy trips to the Multi-Flight café where you can sit with a nice cuppa and watch the comings and goings on the runway at Leeds Bradford Airport.

Yeadon Town Hall Theatre

We are so lucky in Yeadon to have the marvellous Yeadon Town Hall,  There are some fantastic productions put on every year by the local amateur dramatic groups. It’s a real treat to be able to accompany some of our Clients to these performances, particularly Yorkshire’s Very Own Christmas Spectacular!  The dinner shows at Yeadon Town Hall Theatre are also not to be missed and The Legends Festival and The Sound of Music in 2024 are one’s to definitively book early.

If you are reading this and would like one of our lovely care team to accompany you to the theatre, perhaps you haven't been in several years, then we would be delighted to join you.  It would be our pleasure.

Nunroyd Park in Yeadon / Guiseley

Nunroyd Park is the perfect place to head for a walk or for some gentle exercise.  To be honest, we are unsure if it is located in Guiseley or Yeadon – or half and half!  To read more about Nunroyd Park visit our Guiseley page here.

Chana Stores in Yeadon

Many of our Clients are passionate gardeners, and so a trip to Chana Stores, is always welcome! We love this local store – so much so that we commissioned Sunny to plant up our pots outside our homecare office in Horsforth!  From September through to February - we still have plenty of flowers!  If you are local, you will often see Mr Singh perched outside their nursery on Henshaw Lane.  Starting off small it seems to have grown and grown over the years!  I highly recommend heading over there to pick their brains on all things green or flowery, their customer service is second to none.  For those less able, Chana Stores are able to pot plants for you or we can easily help with this during one of our care visits, indoors at the kitchen table together.  A lovely activity to do indoors!

Yeadon High Street

Yeadon High Street has several independent businesses, from cafés such as Never Enough Thyme and Heebie Jeebies to the tempting treats of the Sweet Scoop traditional sweet shop.  A meander down The High Street is always a good time, and inevitably we bump into friends along the way, so sometimes just going for a window shop or helping our Clients with their shopping at Morrisons, can turn into a social gathering!  Fridays is of course market day 8.30-3.30pm and takes place in the square which is overlooked by the gothic town hall.

A little further out, there is of course Murgatroyd’s – always a firm favourite for fish and chips, especially when they have an OAP or pensioners deal on!

What is Yeadon Famous For? A brief History….

The name ‘Yeadon’ comes from the old English ‘steep hill’.  Anybody who has tried to walk up Town Street on an icy day can agree that it is an apt name!

Yeadon has a long and proud association with industry, from the textile mills along Green Lane and Kirk Lane, to the Avro factory which produced aeroplanes for Britain’s World War II efforts, including 700 Lancasters. Today, Yeadon is the home of Leeds Bradford Airport.  Yeadon continues its association with flight, through the Aviation Academy and the Yeadon Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) Club which helps to support the RAF community and is located on New Road Westfield, LS19.
