Homecare provider Right at Home Medway is opening its doors to the local community to host a Dementia Friendly Café.

Following a successful pilot in January, the provider will be hosting a quarterly café in conjunction with two local schools, Oasis Academy Skinner Street Gillingham and Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey in its office at Brown Europe House, Gleaming Wood Drive, Lordswood, Chatham, Kent, ME5 8RZ. Right at Home Medway is also delighted to welcome guest speakers Joanne Dron, a Senior Dementia and Delirium Nurse from the Medway Maritime Hospital, and Neil D’Silva, an expert Nutritionist and the owner of i-Nutrition.

As well as running a range of fun and engaging activities and information sessions, the Dementia Café gives those living with Dementia and their families a place to go to meet, share stories and support each other.

Right at Home Medway Owner and Managing Director, Grantley Lynch, commented:

“The benefits of intergenerational interaction are well-known, so we are delighted to have two schools onboard to support our Dementia Café. We also understand that lasting progress can only be made when local organisations work together, therefore the Dementia and Delirium Nurses at Medway Maritime Hospital with whom we work closely, will provide an information session on the fantastic work they carry out in our community.

“Most of us know that a healthy diet and lifestyle has a direct positive impact on our physical and mental well-being, therefore we also welcome a speech from an expert Nutritionist to give us some practical advice for living a healthy life.

“The café will not only bring people together who are sharing similar experiences, but also gives people the chance to get out and about in their local community which we actively encourage to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.”

Right at Home Medway’s trusted team of CareGivers provide a wide range of services to Clients within the comfort of their own home, including support with personal care, live-in care, medication, transport and specialist Dementia care.

The café is open to all and the next session will take place between 10.00am and 12.00pm on Friday 29th March 2019. Come and enjoy some refreshments, cakes and learn more about supporting someone living with Dementia. For more information, speak to the friendly team at Right at Home Medway on 01634 662 428.
