Why did you start working in care?

I started working in care because I wanted to give back to others and make a positive difference in people’s lives. After looking after a family member close to me for many years, I realised how rewarding it can be to provide care and support to someone who needs it. Having done everything on my own without any formal training, I wanted to see how care is delivered in a professional setting. I was also looking for a job that would be meaningful and fulfilling, where I could continue to learn and help others every day.

Where are you from?

Poland.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

When I was younger, I always wanted to be a reporter, travelling the world and delivering news from war torn countries.

If you could chose any super-power what would it be and why?

If I could choose any superpower, I would choose the ability to fly to have the freedom to go anywhere at any time.

What do you do to unwind after a long day?

After a long day, I like to unwind by spending time outdoors. I enjoy walking my dog and being out in nature whenever I get the chance.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to get into care?

If I could give one piece of advice to someone getting into care, it would be to be confident and do it because you genuinely love helping people, not just for the money. Care work can be challenging at times, but it’s one of the most rewarding jobs you’ll ever do if your heart’s in it. And honestly, don’t ever be afraid to ask questions that’s how you learn. You’ll have a thousand questions some days, and that’s okay. Always speak up and learn from the people around you.
