Looking Back on a Year Together
Fabulous cakes, friendly faces and happy memories made the Hello Club AGM a lovely occasion. Chairperson Tim Haigh, MD of Right at Home Sutton and Mid-Surrey, shared his first annual review since taking on the role in January, celebrating the people who make this community so special.
With opportunities to meet up to four times a week, members enjoy everything from chair-based exercise with Claire Stone to Wednesday afternoons filled with conversation, music and friendly games. Thursday’s creative sessions have included ceramics, watercolours and weaving, while Friday Fever, delivered with Age UK Sutton, brings people together for music, movement and companionship at their own pace.
Highlights included a Christmas party attended by more than 70 members and a summer outing to Oaks Park, where afternoon tea was followed by a sing-song with Adam from Singing Sensations.
The club also remembered talented member Ken Card through a memorial exhibition celebrating his artwork. His family’s generous donation of paintings helped raise approximately £400 for the Hello Club, while his 3D creations have been donated to the Age UK Living Well Centre for others to enjoy.
Thank You to Our Hello Club Community
Tim paid a heartfelt tribute to Heather, Co-founder, former Chairperson and now Ambassador. Her drive and vision helped create the thriving community members enjoy today, and her continued support, wisdom and guidance have been invaluable as Tim settles into his role.
A huge thank you also went to Awards for All for making the Thursday art workshops possible, and to the Sutton Community Fund for supporting activities including Friday Fever. Gerry and Colin received special recognition for their careful financial stewardship and the guidance they provide behind the scenes.
The wonderful volunteers give their time so generously, helping everyone feel included and welcome. Alongside the dedicated Right at Home staff, they bring warmth, encouragement and enthusiasm to the weekly sessions. Thank you, too, to the trustees for their commitment and guidance, and to the church for generously allowing the club to use its beautiful premises.
“Attending the Hello Club is the highlight of my week! Happiness is contagious, and the hello club has it in heaps and spades. It is such a wonderful group of supportive people, getting together and spending some time away from home. I would highly recommend absolutely anyone who is interested to give it a go.”
