A vibrant day!
Held at the Thomas Wall Centre and Benhill Open Space, the event brought together families, local organisations, healthcare providers, and support groups to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for people of all ages.
Right at Home was proud to sponsor this year’s event, which is organised through a partnership between Community Action Sutton, Sutton Primary Care Networks, local charities, Sutton Housing Partnership, Sutton Council, and NHS providers. The day offered residents the opportunity to connect with local services, access valuable health information, and enjoy a range of free activities.
Community Commitment
A lively atmosphere was maintained throughout the day thanks to Radio St Helier, which broadcast live from the event and took music requests from attendees. Right at Home Managing Director Tim Haigh even joined Radio St Helier presenter Andy Acton behind the decks, helping to keep the celebrations going.
“It’s great to see so many people getting involved and having a fantastic time,” said Tim. “Community days like this are so important because they help reduce social isolation while also providing essential health information to those who need it.”
Health and wellbeing were at the heart of the event. Visitors queued to have their blood pressure checked and receive advice on a variety of topics, including diabetes management and mental wellbeing. Meanwhile, younger attendees enjoyed bouncy castles, games, and dance activities led by Sutton Community Dance.
The Benhill Fun Day reflects the wider commitment of local organisations to improving community wellbeing and supporting residents who may be vulnerable or isolated. Right at Home has a long history of championing initiatives that strengthen community connections, including supporting the Hello Club for more than 12 years and the Sutton Nursing Association for a decade.
More recently, the organisation has partnered with Radio St Helier on a project to distribute Amazon Echo devices to people who could benefit from easier access to local radio broadcasts and internet radio services, helping them stay connected and informed.
“It is important that we look out for each other. Right at Home will always support our local community and work alongside organisations that help lift up the most vulnerable members of society.”
– Tim Haigh | Managing Director, Right at Home Sutton and Mid-Surrey.
For Tim, supporting events like the Benhill Community Fun Day is a natural extension of Right at Home’s commitment to supporting people to live safely, comfortably, and independently in their own homes.
As attendance continues to grow year after year, the Benhill Community Fun Day has become a much-anticipated fixture in the local calendar, highlighting the value of community spirit, partnership, and neighbourly support.
