Ken Card
On the 17th and 18th of June, The Hello Club was honoured to host a memorial exhibition celebrating the life of our long-time member and dear friend, Ken Card, at The Rangers Pub in Sutton.
Ken was a truly remarkable person whose warmth, humour, and gift for storytelling left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He had a wonderful way of bringing people together, and his creativity shone through in every piece of art he produced. Whether sharing a story, offering a kind word, or proudly displaying his latest masterpiece, Ken made everyone feel welcome and valued.
A life of art and community
The exhibition was a touching celebration of Ken's life, bringing together friends, family, fellow Hello Club members, and people from the local community. It was a joy to see so many people sharing memories, reconnecting, and spending time appreciating Ken's beautiful artwork. The atmosphere was filled with warmth, laughter, and reflection—just as Ken would have wanted.
One of the most heartwarming moments was seeing many of Ken's paintings and creations find new homes. Knowing that his work will continue to be enjoyed by others is a wonderful tribute to the passion and talent he shared throughout his life. Each piece now carries a little of Ken's spirit, ensuring his creativity continues to bring joy to others.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended, shared stories, supported the exhibition, and helped make the event such a meaningful occasion. Your kindness and presence made it a fitting celebration of a much-loved friend and reminded us of the incredible community that Ken was such a valued part of.
While Ken is deeply missed, his legacy lives on through the friendships he built, the memories he created, and the artwork that continues to inspire those who see it.
"I first met Ken at the Hello Club Arts and Crafts Club on a Thursday, and I immediately knew he was a character! His incredible artistic talent was impossible to hide and I loved it when he would help me with my (limited) artistic abilities! He would tell stories of how he grew up during the war and was always up for a laugh."
