A beautiful day at the Fairfield Centre

We were delighted to attend the very first Fairfield Country Show on Friday 1st May and we are so grateful for the invitation! Hosted on the terrace at the Fairfield Centre by Mole Valley Life, this free community event was a wonderful celebration of local spirit, creativity, and connection.

Chickens, Sunshine and Community!

It was fantastic to see familiar faces from Care UK Leatherhead and Bookham, alongside residents from across Leatherhead enjoying the day. The event featured a charming array of arts and crafts stalls, selling beautiful handmade products from Mole Valley Life and other local vendors—even a few friendly chickens joined in the fun!

A highlight for the day was the arts and crafts competition - people throughout leatherhead sent in their wonderful and artistic entries! You can see some of them in the photos below.

The sunshine added to the vibrant atmosphere, making it the perfect day to meet and mingle with the local community. Music was a real highlight: talented students from a local school wowed everyone with their performances, and we were treated to lively, fun music from a local group with the unforgettable name, The Courgettes and the Zucchinis.

"Wow - what a day. Firstly, I would like to thank Mole Valley for organising this fantastic day of community and strength. The music throughout the day was a joy to experience and the competition entries were mind blowing! I can't wait to attend next year. I wanted to share a poem entry that was written by a member of the Leatherhead community, when it was read aloud to those in attendance, there was an air of silence and awe at the accuracy and beauty of the words."

I am awake and can see it is morning.

What is happening? Realisation is dawning

This is my bed, my house, my home,

Why then is it I feel so alone?

I must get up, but what shall I do?

The clothes are there and they look like new

So are they mine? Can I put them on?

Nobody here. Where has everyone gone?

The door is open. Someone is there

She has come to help me, clothes and hair,

She tells me what's happening and now I know

My memory has gone, and I feel so low.

This was the very first event of its kind to be held at the Fairfield Centre, and we were thrilled to be part of it. The day was a heartwarming reminder of the power of community and the joy of coming together. We look forward to many more events like this and can’t wait to see the Fairfield Country Show grow in the years to come!
