Looking After Your Wellbeing at Every Age

World Mental Health Day is a reminder to make time for our mental health and talk about how we’re feeling. Whatever our age, our emotional wellbeing deserves care and attention.

Movement, Fresh Air and Connection

Physical activity can support our mental wellbeing as well as our physical health. Going for a walk, enjoying the outdoors or taking part in exercise suited to your abilities can help improve mood and energy. Spending time with others and enjoying hobbies also offer valuable opportunities for connection, relaxation and enjoyment.

There’s no single activity that suits everyone. For one person, a good afternoon might mean a gentle walk and a chat. For another, it could be a community group, a favourite performance or catching up with friends over a cup of tea. What matters is finding something you enjoy and doing it at your own pace.

The Difference We See

We love taking our Clients out and about, and we often notice a difference during our visits. A Client who seems tired or quiet when their Carer arrives may return from an outing feeling more energised, talkative and keen to share what they’ve enjoyed.

Those moments mean a great deal to our team. They remind us how valuable companionship, a change of scenery and something to look forward to can be.

We also understand that getting out can become harder when someone’s circumstances or confidence change. A familiar Carer alongside them can provide practical support and reassurance, helping them reconnect with activities they thought they might have to give up.

“People underestimate the power of a conversation, or the power of movement. When it comes to your mental health, these things are so important to your overall wellbeing. A happy physical state leads to a happy mental state, which leads to a happy soul! We love seeing the difference a beautiful walk and a great conversation can make.”
