Raising awareness

On the 11th of April, we were proud to attend a special event hosted by Parkinson’s UK at the Sutton Civic Centre to mark World Parkinson’s Day. This important day raises awareness of Parkinson’s and highlights the realities faced by those living with the condition, as well as the families and loved ones who support them.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that affects movement, but its impact goes far beyond the physical. Many people experience challenges with speech, sleep, mental health, and day-to-day independence. For families, it can be equally life-changing, as they navigate new ways to provide Care, maintain routines, and support their loved ones emotionally and practically. Events like this play a vital role in bringing people together, sharing experiences, and reminding individuals that they are not alone.

Strengthening our community

At Right at Home, supporting people living with conditions such as Parkinson’s is at the heart of what we do. Our mission is to help individuals remain as independent and dignified as possible, while continuing to enjoy life, stay connected, and build meaningful relationships. Whether it’s through tailored care, companionship, or simply being there to listen, we are committed to making a positive difference for both our clients and their families.

It was a pleasure to be part of such an inspiring and welcoming event. We had the opportunity to speak with a wide range of people — from those living with Parkinson’s to carers, healthcare professionals, and members of the local community. These conversations are invaluable, helping us better understand how we can continue to support those who need it most.

A big thank you to Parkinson’s UK for the opportunity to be involved and to work together in supporting our local community. It was also fantastic to see Radio St Helier broadcasting live throughout the day, adding energy and connection to the event.

We were also delighted to welcome a special guest, Louise Phelan, whose presence highlighted the importance of community support and awareness around Parkinson’s.

We look forward to continuing our work alongside partners and the community to ensure that those living with Parkinson’s — and their families — feel supported, empowered, and able to live life to the fullest.
