Right at Home Derby Rolls Out Cutting-Edge Digital Health Monitoring for Clients

Published: 01/05/2025

We are delighted to announce the arrival of our Whzan Blue Box, an innovative step forward in our commitment to helping clients remain healthy and independent in the comfort of their own homes.

The Blue Box, powered by Whzan Digital Health, allows for remote clinical monitoring using NHS-recognised technology. This system records vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, respiratory rate, pulse, blood oxygen levels, and consciousness, and uses them to generate a National Early Warning Score (NEWS2) — a vital tool used across the NHS to identify early signs of health deterioration.

This free, optional service is being introduced across Derbyshire to both existing and new clients, offering early detection of health changes, quicker escalation to medical professionals, and ultimately a greater chance of avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions.

To ensure we deliver the highest standard of care, we’ve begun rolling out specialist training to our Senior CareGivers, enabling them to confidently support clients with this advanced technology during home visits. The system is designed to be non-intrusive, quick to use, and completely person-centred.

“This is a really positive step for Right at Home Derby,” says Registered Manager Melanie Rowland.
“Alongside our recently introduced Raizer Chair – which supports safe and dignified assistance after a fall – the Whzan Blue Box shows how we’re embracing innovation to provide safer, smarter, and more responsive care. We really are moving with the times, while staying true to the compassionate values that define our service.”

What Are the Benefits?

  • Earlier Intervention: Regular health snapshots can reveal early changes, leading to faster treatment and better outcomes.
  • Peace of Mind: Clients and their families gain reassurance knowing that wellbeing is consistently monitored, even between care visits.
  • Reduced Pressure on the NHS: Remote monitoring helps minimise 111 calls, GP visits, and hospital admissions.
  • Enhanced Independence: With proactive care in place, clients can stay safely at home for longer.

In addition, the system allows data to be shared directly with NHS services, including GPs and specialist teams, helping to streamline referrals and coordinate care more effectively when needed.
