New Dementia Choir

Right at Home are excited to announce the launch of their new Dementia Choir which will have its first session Wednesday April 26th at 11am in the Pastoral Centre Emsworth.
The health benefits of music for those living with dementia has been recognised for many years and following the successful television series ‘Our Dementia Choir’ with Vicky McClure there is now a greater awareness of the disease and how music can help trigger positive feelings and build connections with other people. To run the sessions, we are delighted that Liz Jones from Dementia Friendly Petersfield has agreed to offer her expertise’s. Liz has been leading the hugely successful Petersfield Dementia Choir since September 2021. After a career in music education and leading choirs in schools, Liz is enjoying using her skills to bring a joy of singing to those living with dementia.
All you need to join the sessions is: Live local to Emsworth and have a passion and love for singing and music.
This is a dementia choir, so all members of the Choir should have received a formal diagnosis of dementia or be a Caregiver, Family or Friend of someone living with Dementia.
Most of all, we want the room to be filled with love and laughter whenever we meet.
To start with the Choir will be take place on the last Wednesday of each month at the Pastoral Centre in Emsworth.
Refreshments will be available to purchase at the Centre.
