Celebrating Good Care Month
July was Good Care Month — a time to recognise what great care really looks like, shine a spotlight on our incredible Carers, and share simple tips on the little ways we promote better health every day. 💛
At Right at Home Lymm and Warrington South, it’s the small, thoughtful moments that define our approach to care. From supporting healthy routines to encouraging personal wellbeing, our Carers go above and beyond every day to make life better for our clients.
Throughout July, we also shared some practical care tips as part of our Good Care Month campaign on our social media accounts — here’s a quick roundup:
💧 Care Tip: Stay Hydrated
Did you know that by the time you feel thirsty, your body may already be dehydrated? This can impact energy levels, concentration, and even mood — especially in older adults.
During the warmer months, it’s more important than ever to stay hydrated. We encourage sipping water little and often, offering hydrating snacks like fruit or jelly, and keeping drinks visible and within easy reach. We also use gentle reminders to help clients stay on track throughout the day.
🍽️ Care Tip: Plan Well, Eat Well, Feel Well
Good nutrition starts with a little planning — and it can make a big difference in how we feel, both physically and emotionally.
Our Carers support clients with simple meal planning and healthy food choices that suit individual tastes, routines, and care needs. Whether it’s a fresh fruit salad in summer or a warm soup on a rainy day, we believe that food is care — and that planning ahead is the first step toward better health.
🛏️ Care Tip: Supporting Better Sleep
Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for overall health and well-being, especially for older adults or those receiving care.
We support our clients with gentle, calming evening routines — preparing a light supper and warm drink, creating a soothing environment by adjusting lighting, assisting with personal care, helping them get into nightwear, and ensuring they’re comfortably settled in bed for a restful night.
When overnight care is needed, our carers remain on hand throughout the night — whether it’s supporting with medication, offering companionship, or providing reassurance and safety. These small, thoughtful touches make a big difference in promoting restful sleep and peace of mind for both clients and their families.
📖 Care Tip: The Power of Self-Care
Taking time for yourself is essential to overall health and happiness. For those receiving care, small, meaningful activities can make a big difference.
Our carers encourage clients to engage in calming and enjoyable moments — whether it’s putting together photo albums, reading a favourite book, or listening to soothing music. These quiet rituals help reduce stress, lift spirits, and support mental clarity.
🌿 Care Tip: Fresh Air & Movement
Spending time outdoors and keeping gently active can boost mood, reduce stress, and support better sleep. Even light movement or a few minutes in the fresh air can make a real difference to physical and emotional wellbeing.
At Right at Home Lymm and Warrington South, we support our clients with light exercises, short walks, or time in the garden — whatever works best for them. These moments may seem simple, but they’re full of purpose and joy.
As Good Care Month draws to a close, we’ve loved sharing just a few of the everyday ways we encourage better care and healthier routines. We hope our tips have given you a bit of insight — and a few helpful ideas too.
